Hello all I am a long time reader, newbie poster. My family (DW, DD6 and DS2) are planning a trip Dec 26-31 this year! How is the atmosphere duringbthis time at the Fort? Will we still be around Christmas decorations? I guess what I am asking is what are your tips, etc for FW, etc during this time?

Thanks so much in advance!

Christmas will stilll be up and celebrating. This is the most crowded time of the year so be prepared for that. I think you will enjoy it, we will be there the same time..

You'll have fun. Make sure you do your dining ressies 180 days out and start calling at 7:00 AM Eastern (they may even start at 6:00).

When going to the parks, get there before line drop, ride what rides you can until it gets crowded, then relax and soak up the holiday atmosphere. Catch any special shows/parades they have.

My family of 18 rented 3 cabins at Fort Wilderness the same week your going but back in 2004. We had a BLAST! The atmosphere was great. Decorations were still up. IMHO it's the best time of the year to go, MINUS THE CROWDS!

We will be there at the same time. We went between Thanksgiving and Christmas in 2009 which was ideal as the crowds are low and it is still decorated and going full tilt for Christmas. It will be interesting to see the difference.

It will be an amazing time at the Fort. Do come prepared for VERY COLD weather. Florida can do anything in regards to the weather this time of year. We were there this past December for 2 weeks and it was in the 30-40s MOST days. BBUURRR.

Plenty of Christmas decorations for you to enjoy and lots of holiday events.

As mentioned above it is one of the most crowded times of the year, so just go knowing that there will be long waits and crowd issues. SHould still be great of course!! Can't say enough about early dining ressies. I would also really consider doing some cooking at the camp site. Disney transportation this time of the year can be unorganized and SLOW. So just getting to a reservation can be stressful. Just dont plan too much into one day.

Hope you have a great time!!:santa:

another tip,,
by no means do you want to venture out to the local Wally Weird during your stay at the Fort !!:lmao:
I'm serious, it's NOT pretty ! :lmao:

oh and don't eat for like a month before you go. pack your skinny clothes on the top of the pile-fat clothes for on the way home..
