I looked at rates for campsites and saw they are @ $65. Are these RV sites, I would like to camp in a tent and dont need elec. or water. Is it still the same price or is there a cheaper area if your just using a tent?

All sites have water, electricity, and I think cable. You want to ask for a tent/pop up site. I was able to get a AAA rate for my last vacation - 5 nights for just under $200.

Rack (non-discounted) rates for 2010 are HERE

Tent sites range from $44 for a weekday/Value Season to $89 over the Christmas/New Years holiday.

There are sometimes discounts available for AAA and AP holders, but there are usually a limited number of sites available at the discounted rates depending on when you're going.

Unfortunately campsites are not usually eligible for the promotions like the "buy 4 get 3" or free dining.

Sounds like you just need a partial. They have everything except sewer I believe and are the least expensive site to reserve. The rates vary by season and if there are any discounts being offered by Disney or if you have an AP or AAA. Partial hook-up campers should be along shortly to advise more...:)

Not always. I got an AP rate on a partial site this past August (2009)- $33 a night.

Hello TCD,
I have also received discounted 'AAA' rates for partial sites. We currently have reservations at FW this year in a partial site with a check-in date of November 30th for the week at $37.60 a night. We also have a discounted rate for the following week checking in on December 5th thru the 11th at $39.00 a night. The Friday and Saturday rate is just a couple dollars higher.

We are looking forward to our Christmas trip to WDW and hope we will be able to meet Shan-man and some of the other 'Disboard' friends sometime while we are there! TCD are you and your family planning a trip to the Fort during this time?

Those are some good rates! I am going to have to make some phone calls!

Because of other obligations, I am not sure when we will be camping between now and the end of the year. I have reservations for time blocks in October, November and December. We are now in the process of figuring out what we can use and what we can't. I hope to be at the Fort for at least part of Thanksgiving week, and also for part of the Christmas break, right after Christmas. We hope to be at the Fort for NYE. Those dates don't quite match up with yours, but I have been known to make a day trip or two (or three) in my time.

I've got 15 nights from the Friday after T'giving in a Partial Hookup with AAA rate. It worked out to an average of $42.80 per night including taxes.

(I'm pretty sure the weekends are higher, but was just given a total price.)

Hello Carol ......... It looks like our rate is almost the same. The average per night including tax for both of our reservations (11-nights total) is $43.53. We are still trying to decide how many nights we will be able to stay but I am sure it won't be for the full 11-nights. We celebrate our '38th' Wedding Anniversary on December 5th this year and our plans are to be at WDW/ FW at least on that Saturday! We will either stay the week of our anniversary or the week after. Any thoughts on which week we would see more camp sites decorated for Christmas?

I hope we will get a chance to meet you while we are at Fort Wilderness!

Safe Travels,

Doug / datgrt@fw

I would say it is about equal for each week as far as Christmas Decorations go. Most of the long termers are there already and start decorating right around Thanksgiving. Those are the ones that do the "BIG" decorating projects. As for everyone else, you will see varying degrees of decorations on the sites and all very fluid as folks come and go.

Hope to meet you too!!

Thanks Carol ......... I appreciate your response to my question about the Christmas decorations! This is our first trip to WDW at Christmas time and believe me we are looking forward to our trip!

AP discounts start for the Preferred sites, nothing for the partial hookups.

There are AP rates for Full Hookup, in fact, there is availability for the first of November at AP rates. Kinda surprised they still have AP discounts available this late.
