Hi everyone :) I'm new here even though I shouldn't be as I live about 35 minutes from all the Disney fun!! I recently learned of the tent camping sites (had no idea) at Disney and wanted to plan a mini weekend getaway for myself-my hubby and our two daughters (7, 4). I can't believe how inexpensive it is. Granted we'd be tent camping but we are used to heat, used to rain, and we are outdoorsy.

I did all the leg work and research and found a weekend this September that would accommodate us, as well as inviting some family that lives nearby to camp with us. It's the only available weekend that we can tent camp from now until Thanksgiving. We are going back for The Very Merry Mickey Christmas Party so I didn't want to go in December.

I emailed the family thinking they were going to be as flipping excited as I was and no one emailed me back.

#1. As previously mentioned we live in Florida so I didn't think the heat was going to be that big of a deal or a deciding factor. So I talk with family today and their main concerns were hurricanes, it being "peak" season mid-end September and it's too hot in central Florida to camp.

I want to shout from the roof tops "this is Disney Camping friends..... Whoooooo cares" but sadly I don't think anyone wants to join us.

Am I being stubborn and bump it back or is it really going to be that bad camping at night in late September? The weather is unpredictable I grasp that but the fun, the pools etc should totally win them over and it's not working. Any tips?! Past september campers any advice??? When all is said and done it would be $39 a couple (3 couples) 4 kids. I can't eat at Outback for that cheap! For two nights!!!

Thanks for any help:) or advice!!

Hi and welcome Floridagirl. If you put this on the camping board you will get a lot more responses.

I would probably make an exception for Disney, but when I lived on the Tx Gulf Coast I refused to go camping from May until October. I am ok with hot during the day as long as it is cool at night. I would much rather camp in cold weather than hot, but that is just me.

It might just be short notice for the other family. As school starts weekends fill up quickly.

Well, camping board would fill u in. Here's what I've learned from lurking (I'm going for Christmas).

1. If u r planning on sleeping on air mattresses they tend to sleep cool.

2. Someone posted that due to condensation in tent they were cold at night. In summer.

3. As for the weather, I'm on the Louisiana gulf coast and it's not like we don't know way in advance if a hurricane is coming in.

Granted if u aren't in a properly seam sealed tent a camping trip and rain can quickly turn magic to misery, but that's just prep.

2 pools, numerous water sport craft, horseback riding, DISNEY!!!

Maybe u need to SHOW them! Pics, YouTube . .

Wave you wand!!!
