How difficult would it be to get around WDW with 2 kids in wheelchairs, one of whom requires a ventilator when sleeping if we stay at the campgrounds? We are considering renting a motor home which will enable us to transport all of the medical stuff easily. My concern is getting from the mobile home to the parks with minimum hassle. Karen

I don't think it would be any harder leaving a campsite and going to a bus stop than a hotel room, but I really don't know. Have you considered asking this question on the camping board? They might be able to help you.

Good luck.

:)

Hi,
We have actually stayed at Fort Wilderness several times with our special needs son. He was not on a vent, but he did require oxygen, was tube fed and was in a wheelchair. For us, it was the perfect place. It is just a quick boat ride to MK. And we drove to the other parks. I love it because it is so close to the parks, yet worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. We were able to totally unwind.
On our last visit, we had to visit Arnold Palmer hospital... I think it was about a 20 minute drive... but they treated us well and fixed the problem.
Sadly for us, he is no longer here on this earth with us, but we will still always stay at the Fort.
I'd be happy to answer any other questions you may have.
Jean

I think not being able to drive to the parks would be a pain with everything you will have to deal with. How about renting a large van and staying at a moderate hotel where you can park close to the room
