I'm looking for a good national campground directory. I was at Borders Books today and saw these two:

Trailer Life Directory 2008. Shows all the campgrounds with the Good Sam Club places. Is this a decent club membership? It says the discount is 10%. on campgrounds.

Woodall's Campground Directory. This advertises CampClub USA and says you can get 50% discount on over 1000 campgrounds. Comes with some kind of CD Rom.

So have any of you had experience with either of these memberships and/or directories? 50% sounds good, but is it really limited?

Whatever you can clue me into would be very helpful!

Try this website it may help. Can't help with camping memberships. My thought of them, that they are great for fulltimers. I think the casual camper will not get the money out of them unless the membership fee is very inexpensive.

I think the first year of Good Sam was $19 and the other was $39.99. I'm not sure it would be worth it or not, I haven't looked at it that closely.

I was thinking something different. I was thinking of 1000 trails or coast to coast. I think they start around $900 or higher.

Nope, not looking for a campground timeshare. We did stay at a Thousand Trails campground once though near San Antonio. Really nice. Didn't have to sit through the pitch.

The memberships I was talking about are just discount memberships.

We belonged to Good Sams for a year and did not use it.

When I am looking for a campground in a certain area and then looking for reviews on them I always do 3 things 1/go to http://www.rvparkreviews.com
and search for campgrounds in the area. Then I 2/ narrow down my choices by reading the reviews given there regarding the campgrounds and then 3/do a search for the campground(s) at http://www.rv.net/forum to see if someone has already written about that campground and/or post a new thread to get info/feedback on the campground.

I like to receive feedback/reviews from "real people" and have never been disappointed in the campgrounds I have stayed in.
