We are going in sept. and was thinking about maybe looking into doing the campfire and movie at FW.Where can I find the list of movies playing and is there a cost for the campfire?

We are going to be there on Sept 20th :yay:
Doing the 5:00 Hoop Dee Doo...:dance3:
Then the Bon fire and Movie...

We are staying at POP...
We do a lot of camping back home...
Never camped at Disney.
But the kids LOVE the movie time back home...
They usually fall asleep too :)

We thought it would be a nice break from the Parks for a night.

The movie is Free... They have a schedule posted...
It doesn't go to Sept. Yet...

We are staying the 22-27.I thought I heard somewhere that is was like 3 bucks each for the marshmellow kits for the bonfire but I figured somebody from here would know. When do they list the movies?

We love the campfire/sing a long and movie at FW, we've been 3 times. You can find the list of movies at the beginning of each month on the DIS in the CAMPING board.

It is completely free. Although there is a snack bar there where you can buy if desired, the makings for smores or hot dogs and drinks.

One caution - if you do not have a car and are staying at a different resort and need to use buses- it is a pretty big pain to get there and back. It is worth it, IMO, but just knowing this upfront is good, so you're not expecting anything different. If you are driving - it is easy.

Is there a boat that can take you from MK to FW ?

I thought there was ???:confused3

We were planning to take the boat to and from MK
And then a bus back to POP from there.

Will this work???

Yes, that's how we got back and forth for Hoop De Doo. However, to get THERE we took a cab. It's WAYYY to much traveling. If you've never been to FW, it needs to be mentioned that that place is MASSIVE. You need to take a bus (or a golf cart) to get around. We just didn't feel like leaving for dinner THAT early so that's why we took a cab. Otherwise, you need to take a bus from your resort to MK, then take the boat or bus to FW, then take another bus AROUND FW. The boat ride home was really nice. There is music and everything in the World is all lit up. Very pretty. Oh and I don't know how long the bonsire/movie runs but don't forget that the buses only run an hour after park closing.

I think we will be okay...
MK is open til 10:00pm that night.

:goodvibes Thanks

We took a boat over to the Hoop de Doo show it was a nice little change of pace.. I can't remember how we got to the camp fire seems like there is some mode of transportation to there because I do not like to walk great distances LOL Just be careful because there are snakes and armadillos(sp) in the area.. My poor mom almost stepped on one near the playground that was near our RV. We look back an laugh now but at the time she wasn't laughing... We reported the snake and a guy came out to take it away.. Mom asked what are you going to do with it and he said we release it elsewhere hmmmm job security :rotfl2:

So, if you are staying offsite and want to do this, how does it work? Do you pay a price to get in, or is it still free? Where do you park?

Read this somewhere:

The campfire program is open to all WDW resort guests. It generally begins around 7 p.m. during the fall/winter season and 8 p.m. after the time changes in April through the summer. It is held near the Meadow Trading Post in the campfire area. The program begins with a sing-along led by a Disney CM and a marshmallow roast around two campfire rings. You may bring your own marshmallows or buy them at the Chuckwagon (roasting sticks and marshmallows are $2). You may also buy pizza, hot dogs, candy, nachos, juice, popcorn, sodas, coffee, beer and other refreshments at the Chuckwagon. While this is going on, Chip and Dale make an appearance to visit with guests and sign autographs. The sing-along lasts about 40 minutes. Next, one or two Disney animated features, depending upon the season, are shown on a large outdoor screen. Seating is available in bleachers or on benches. There is also plenty of room to lay out a quilt or blanket. The movie schedule is posted at all comfort stations. In the event of rain, the sing-along is still held on the porch of the Meadow Trading Post.

You take the boat to FW, walk down a bit past the Hoop Dee Doo to the bus stop and then take an internal FW bus to the Meadows area. Just ask the first bus driver the best way to get to the campfire. They're usually very friendly.

You can go if you're staying offsite. No one checks id. There is a parking lot for the HDDR where you can park and then take a bus. One way to get to the parking lot is to go through the main MK gates, staying ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT, next to the bus only lane. Tell the attendant you are going to FW. I think there is a line on the road to follow, but it's basically stay to the right and make the first right turn. Watch out because you have to cut into the bus lane, sort of.

BTW, this parking lot is on the opposite end of FW than the HDDR. There's a map on the camping board for the directionally challenged. :)

We went from POP:

Bus to MK
Walk from bus stop area to boat dock
Boat to FW (this one stops at Wilderness Lodge first, so the boat ride takes a little bit even tho it is very close)
Internal bus in FW to the campfire site

Then back:
Internal bus to the main bus stop at FW (waited 10 minutes for this bus)
Bus to DTD (waited 5 minutes for this one)
Bus from DTD to POP (waited another 10 minutes for this one)

Not unexpected with the waits - but just LONG....when you figure in wait times plus bus times - took just under an hour to get back to the room.

It is doable and it is worth it - but it is long and cumbersome (especially if you have younger, tired, children on the way back). I think it is much easier to handle if you just know it upfront.
