Ok, so DH and I just recently purchased our 1st TT, and we love it. We've already taken it camping twice. And while our twins are only 2 1/2, by the time all 4 of us plus the dog are all settled in, we're running our of space! I've not oragnized all of our things very well, and I need help to maximize our space for longer trips, like WDW in Feb. Anyone have any photos or ideas of how you've organized??? DH wants to put in drawers where the small hanging closet is, which frankly, scares me. He's a somewhat handy guy, but I'm assuming that you really can't drill holes or hammer nails into the paper thin walls of a camper. My kitchen is a disaster and found myself looking for the salt in the medicine cabinet this past weekend!!??? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Pics especially!!!

I am sorry, I don't have any pictures, and you probably wouldn't want to see the mess!

I went to the dollar store and bought baskets that would fit in my drawers and in my medicine cabinet. I have one for the medicines and one for the tooth paste and that stuff, a hair one, etc. They seem to work pretty good to keep things separate. It is a lot easier when it is time to take the stuff out in the winter too.

Also I have a plastic coated metal thing that has 3 tiers and it separates my plates and bowls. I have a single tier plastic coated metal thing that I can put 2 layers of cans on in my pantry.

Also at the dollar store I bought rolls of the non skid mat that I put under things. That seems to work pretty well. I even have it under the cushions to my dinette to keep them from slipping on the wood.

The drawer sets are held in place with heavy duty velcro with adhesive backing

The racks are held in place with multiple Command Adhesive Clips

This response is abit off topic but I thought the premise might help. This past July 4th week I wanted to drape the front of our fifth wheeler with a patriotic bunting. The suction hooks I purchased wouldn't stay on so I tried the hooks by Command. They are plastic with the removable strip behind them. They worked great, came off really easily and left no marks or residue. The bunting was thirty feet long and quite heavy. These hooks should work well on walls that won't support nails because of their flimsyness (is that a word?) I hope this helps somewhat with your situation....

We put in one of those hanging shelves. They hang from the coat pole in the wardrobe. It has several cubbies and two drawers at the bottom. In the tv cabinet, i got one of those plastic sets of drawers. For the bathroom i got those small table top drawers that my daugter uses for her jewlery, hair ties, q-tips and makeup. Yeah she is 16 and needs all that stuff when we are camping.

I am in the process of organizing our RV. In the closet, we put 2 of those hanging sweater holders (they look like stacked up boxes, but hang on the rod) Two of them fit nicely side-by-side. Got a pop-up hamper which we keep in the shower when it is not in use. Got small rubbermaid bins to put in the cabinets. One of them holds all condiments, napkins, etc, so I just grab it and take it out to the picnic table. We have a full-size bed int he back where we put all the bedding, pillows, etc and a bunk for any overflow. We put small brass hooks(3) inside the door for jackets, hats & lanyards and also have some hooks in the bathroom for hanging vanity bag, clothes or wet towels out of the way. Also, we hung an organizer on the inside of the bathroom door which has a bunch of small pockets. We use it for razors, q-tips, brushes, combs, etc. Lessens the need for vanity bags in the first place. I still feel crowded!! Hope this helps!

You can look thru the pics in my signature since I have some stuff for storage in there. One thing to remember is being to efficient can result in overloading your TT so I would recommend you get it weighed when first loaded up as a double check to make sure you're comfortable. Even having done this many times, I still make that part of my first fuel stop which is within 75 miles of departing home.

If you really know where you want to mount something I generally use one of the expanding hollow wall anchors and plan to leave whatever I mounted there if I sell the trailer later. Many of the interior walls are only like 1/8" thick so just screws are not that good. My trailer is even worse since it has no pine in it (except the plywood type and even there I'm not sure how much), but uses Banak wood for the cabinets and frames, closets, doors, etc. and that is not that screw friendly.

I use lots of plastic baskets and bins. In the cabinets in the kitchen and living area, I use plastic coated wire shelves to separate things so they don't get lost. I found narrow stacking bins that fit under the sink in the bathroom. My kitchen is small, but it has a deep cabinet that is hard to get to. I keep things we don't use daily in the back of the cabinet. Sometimes I post a list of what I stored there on the inside of the cabinet door. I use the collapsible hampers for laundry and garbage. A tall garbage bag fits in it and I keep it from moving with clothespins. I also use small collapsible toy cubes for the grandkids. I put the garbage in the shower and close the shower door whenever we go anywhere. This keeps our trash hounds out of it. The linen stores (such as Linens N Things ,etc.) have alot of great organizational ideas. To utilize the space in our closet for long trips, we bought hangers that you could hang multiple things on. If you want to fix something to a wall without damage, you can use silicone. It gives a good strong hold but will come off without damage. I actually hung a small tv on a boat with this and its still holding. You will probably redo your cabinets several times before you find the right layout for you and your family. hello, I bought a shoe over-the-door hanger for the bathroom, for all of the stuff, shampoo,toothbrushes and so on, it wooks great. also use them in the closet on the inside door. we bought 2 drawer sets for one closet and the other closet for hanging clothes, works great, good luck.

I have older twins. When they were younger, we would back a day's worth of clothing in a plastic ziplock bag. Everything would be in the bag, clothes, socks, hair accessories. Our first RV didn't have much storage so each person had a rubber maid tub and their clothes were kept in there and stored on a top bunk. We would pull the tub down and grab a bag of clothes and put the tub back up. It would work the same if you have drawers. PJs were stored in the pillowcase so we wouldn't have to hunt for them late at night.

We have a different RV now with more storage. I still have a set of plastic drawers that we used in the first RV. They sit in the closet. We didn't add any shelves.

We kept a plastic tub outside near the door for shoes. All shoes when in the tub. It was a flat one like ones used for wrapping paper. At night put the lid on to keep critters out.

In the first RV, we kept our dirty clothes in the storage space under the dinette. We had a door installed so we could access it without pulling up the cushions.

In the bathroom, we have 4 hooks and each family member know's which hook belongs to who. You place your towel on your hook. Our hooks are different, bear, moose, etc. so easy. When the kids were smaller, everything was color coded so you knew which towel, washcloth, etc. to use. For WDW, you can use favorite characters to distinguish who's is who's. Same with dishes and cups.

We use a fold up clothes line. It used to travel behing the couch in the other RV, now it stores in one of the storage bins. We place it behind the RV to dry items such as towels, etc.

The most important thing is that you have started your kids camping at an early age! As you camp, you will settle into a routine and that routine is what builds those memories later. It will take a few trips to get it organized.

We did the following in a previous MH that had a small closet for hanging long items - like dresses. Due to the fact the paneling is so thin, you really can't screw into it. My DH took 2x2's and glued them into the four corners of the closet using gorilla glue. Before doing this, he made "channels" that 1/4 inch plywood shelves could slide in to (you could use luan, but it won't hold as much weight without sagging). At the bottom of the closet he left a space large enough for a clothes hamper, fronted it with plywood, and made a top with a piano hinge. We sanded, painted & sealed all the wood before installing it. It didn't take too much work - just make sure you measure, measure, measure before cutting. We're going to do the same to our current MH to give us the extra storage space we need - especially the hamper for the dirty clothes.

I don't store heavy items on these shelves...usually towels, shoes - I hate shoes kicking around everywhere - but especially in the MH. I have an extra set of sheets and blanket in space bags just in case.

The year and a half we full-timed in our MH, space bags were my best friend for storing seasonal clothing. When you full-time RV, you learn in a hurry how to be frugal with space. It's amazing what items you DON'T need.
