We are thinking about taking the Grandaughters to Disney in 2008, we want to pull the 31' camper, but we have never pulled one that far, only 4hrs. away, and we are kind of nervous about this.W e will be pulling it from Greensboro North Carolina, do you think we should , considering DH would be doing all the driving. Yes i know lots and lots of people do it.

First off...that has got to be the cutest screen name Ive ever read...NANA2TOTS!!!! I love it! Second, and this is just MY opinion which shouldnt even count, since I dont have a TT, but if ya can take it 4 hrs away....whats a couple of more ours...whats it, like an 8 hr or less drive? I'd do it if I could.

Hi, neighbor! We towed our TT many times to FW from Winston-Salem. With kids (and many stops), plan on the trip taking 11-12 hours. We always spent the night on the road both ways. Sometimes went by Myrtle Beach for a few days after Disney to unwind. Those were great trips, and we have wonderful memories of the kids in Fort Wilderness!

To us, the trip from Raleigh is just part of the fun and excitement. We break up the trip down by stopping over at a campground in Ga. and then when we head out the next morning, we're only 4-5 hours from the Fort.

One question, though. Do you already have reservations for January and are just considering taking the family or are you thinking about booking a trip to the Fort next month? The reason I ask is I would imagine the Fort is booked up for next month.

If you can pull it 4 hours, you can pull it more. Once you get past the first hour, you are used to it being back there and any additional hours are easy. I pull ours 19 hours one way to get to FW.

Hi! We bought a brand new travel trailer this past fall--never having camped before!:rotfl: We are from Pennsylvania--a 19-22 hour drive by car, and made the trip to FW for Thanksgiving. It was exactly our 3rd trip pulling the trailer.
We had a ball, and so did our 4 kids! We just made sure we took it slow, and broke the trip up more than we ever did by car. We took 2 days each way. We
have ressies for Easter, but with the weather we've had recently, we think the school schedules for the kids and myself won't allow us enough time to take that trip because of snow days. Good luck!

Well Thank you, Daddyrog, and thanks everyone, guess my question was answered, no we are talkin sometime, Summer 08.

I'm usually asleep by that point, especially if I'm driving. 4 hours or 12 hours it's all the same. Go for it.

The great part about pulling a trailer - if I get tired or hungry, I just put the truck on cruise control and climb out the window, over the hitch and in through the front bunk on the kiwi and take a nap and or make a sandwich. The trip just flies by.

We made the trip to FW twice from Fort Bragg near Fayetteville, NC. It is only 1 hour closer than you are. The drive down I-95 is easy, just lots of traffic in Jacksonville, so definitely avoid rush hour there. We find parking at Cracker Barrels are pretty easy if you go at off hours. Well, except the one near the NC/SC border. Can't remember the town name, but it was terribly crowded and horrible to park there. If I remember the name of the town, I will post it. Everything at that exit was a pain.

We made it both times in one day. We usually leave about sunup and are in our spot for dinner. And that is making 1 hour stops for breakfast and lunch. Not a bad drive at all. The rest areas in FL are very nice with lots of RV parking.

Have a great trip!

Happy Campin!!

We've had our moments on long trips, but I always keep one thing in mind. Your TV is designed to tow, and your TT is designed to BE towed....best of luck. Take it slow and steady! Happy Holidays!

Make sure (if you don't have one already) you have some type of sway control, it makes it that much easier.
