Hello all,

I am trying to plan a sort of last minute camping trip to Fort Wilderness. Since we are camping in a 33ft 5th wheel we are required to get a full hookup site which limits us. We are looking to camp from Feb 5th – 11th and as of right now have not been able to secure any sites at FW so we may have to camp at Tropical Palms.

My question is what is the best strategy to use in booking a last minute camping site at FW? If there are a few days during the week should I book them and wait for more to come available or do I need to secure all the dates at once?

Any thoughts ideas/strategies are appreciated.

Thanks
Josh

Sounds like you have a good plan. Try calling at 7AM every morning, take whatever days you can and keep adding.

Good luck

I have had my best luck checking the web site. I would take what you can get and add to it. You can always cancel up to 7 days before your start date with no charge. It should not be too hard to get Sunday-Wednesday. I always have the most trouble getting Thursday- Saturday night. Try different day combinations but Disney will sometimes block out 2 day weekend stays until the time is very close. I have tried to book a Friday/Saturday stay with no luck but if I add Thursday or Sunday to them I get in. cancellations happen all the time. Check the web site several times a day and good luck.

PS
I would split my stay between Tropical Palms and the Fort if I had to. It is worth the trouble to move even if its only a couple of days.

I agree with getting what ever days you can get and go from there. 2 yrs ago at Christmas I did this and had 9 ressies. They would not link them so I paid all different rates , but they did make sure we stayed in the same site.Good luck.

Put your dates in day by day to see how much you can get in one ressie and then just keep trying to piece it together. Try at different times of the day. It is always different. My sister and I did this for spring break last year and managed to put together 2 weeks.

That strategy seemed to work pretty well. I've got 3 res which has included 5 out of my 6 days. At this rate I should not have a problem getting completely booked.

Also, even if you are missing that one night when you arrive, just ask about staying.

A friend couldn't get his weekend nights booked ahead of time no matter what he tried during the beginning of December, and once he arrived, he had no trouble getting to stay those nights and he didn't have to change sites. (He was in a partial hookup in 2000).
