Hi Guys,

We have been to WDW three years in a row and have stayed at the Polynesian. This year the family has convinced me to take the Motor Home and camp. From what I understand FW is great, except for traveling anywhere but the Magic Kingdown. Everything I read says to take the internal bus system to the external. Would it not be easier to take the boat to the Magic Kindom and use their bus system? Also any other tips while we stay there would be greatly appreciated.

When we camped at the Fort, we always took the boat to the Magic Kingdom. The other parks, took external buses. I did not find their buses worse than other resorts. (I have stayed at POR and POP)

If you take bikes or a golf cart then there is no need for the internal bus.

I agree with Lone Star,,bikes or golf cart :thumbsup2 .

To visit the MK,, take the boat.
To any place else, use external bus system from the Fort. It will take longer to take boat to MK to then use bus system.

Even if the internal busses are running slow it would be quicker than the MK busses.

You can always take the monorail to Epcot. If you rent a golf cart, you can drive that to the bus area instead of the internal buses which would be a lot faster.... that's what we do but we bring out cart instead of rent

If we were going to the MK we would take the boat, Epcot take the boat then the monorail...anywhere else we drove. I came across a chart that showed driving times that compared using the bus to driving yourself and there was a considerable time difference in taking the bus to driving favoring driving.

We took our bikes with us for any internal transportation. I had talked to a few people who waited better than 30 minutes for a bus from the settlement one night when Epcot had evening EMH.

How Long was your wait for the internal buses?

The most we waited was 10-15 min. The 15, would be if we just missed the bus. We have had the golf cart (it was fun), but that costs about $50 a day.

The bus wait was really a non issue for us at the Fort.

Well since you're used to staying at the poly, the price difference between campsite and a deluxe room can more than make up for the rental of a golf cart. Although it really depends on which end of the campgrounds you're on. If you're at the 100-300 loop, you have to walk to the settlement to catch a bus. The other option is to take the bus from the settlement to wilderness lodge and catch a bus from there. People claim the wait at a deluxe resort is shorter than any where else.
Or bring bikes. Nothing like getting the blood flowing in the morning.

Don't know if you are towing a vehicle behind the MH, but if so drive to all but MK. Your resort parking pass is also good at the Parks for your length of stay.

bus wait time also depends on time of year during busy season they seem to run closer but fill faster also and have standing room only lots of the time when its slower season they run slower but are less crowded

we also do the golf cart rental makes getting to the external buses faster plus they are great for checking out the other loops people bring some very interesting decorations around the holidays plus just checking out others sites for ideas people always have great ideas in FW good luck in your decision but most of all remember its a vaction so enjoy and don't over do it sometimes when you rush around you miss more then you think there is so much in disney to see take your time and see it all
