What is the best way to get to the campfire. We are staying at POR but thought this would be a good first night activity since we are not going to a park the day we arrive.

Are the bugs very bad?

Got a car? If so, drive to FW. Don't go in the main entrance with the guard shack. Go to the second entrance for HDDR parking. Park in the overflow lot by the Kennel. Walk to the Outpost bus stop (you can see it from the parking lot - the large shelter past the kennel). Take the Orange or Yellow bus, NOT the Purple. Either one of these will go past the Meadows area. Tell the bus driver where you are going. The yellow bus will let you off at the 1500 loop for the Campfire program - cross over the bridge. It is off to the right of the bike barn as you are walking to the pool area. The Orange bus will let you off at the Meadows trading post. You will have to wander off to the left where a path will take you over to the campfire program. It is pretty visible.

If you don't want to take your car as FWguy stated and you want to use Disney transportion I think you can take a bus to Magic Kingdom then take one of the boat lauches across the lake to FW. Then one of the internal FW buses to the Meadows trading post which is right in the vicinity of the campfire program.

FW does a great job of spraying for bugs, so we've never had a problem with mosquitos or flies. But, I suppose if it's a particularly wet time of year, you might want to bring some bug spray, just in case. :)

Thanks for the responses. We will be using Disney transportation. How long do you have to wait for an internal bus. I want to make sure we allow enough time once we are in FW.

We first started going to the campfire when we used to stay at Dixie landings.

If you arent picky between the Orange or Yellow bus your wait should be less than 10 minutes.

Last time we went to the Campfire/Movie we got eaten alive by mosquitoes even after spraying ourselves. The other times we went that trip we took along the bug spray so we could reapply as needed.
It certainly wouldn't hurt to take some along just in case.
