My DH & I are planning a dinner at Shula's for our upcoming trip. I thought I had read that Camp Dolphin is available for children, if you're having dinner at Shula's.

Can anyone confirm? What kind of activities are available at Camp Dolphin? Where exactly is Camp Dolphin located in the hotel? (My DD loves the Cubs Den at WL and Simba's Clubhouse at AKL!)

Thanks!

Hi there! From what I understand, if you dine at either Shula's or Blue Zoo, you can put your kids at Camp Dolphin for up to 2 hours FREE! DH and I plan to take advantage of this perk on our upcoming trip in Oct.

Sorry, I am not familiar with Camp Dolphin specifically...but I am sure it is similar to the clubs at AKL and WL. Coincidentally...those are the only two clubs our DD has stayed at...she loved both of them so we have no qualms about Camp Dolphin.

I thought that I had read something similar about the free Camp Dolphin for dining at Shula's as well and was wondering about it. My husband and I have a reservation for this weekend and since there is no children's menu was thinking of utilizing this perk. Does anyone know if you also have to make a reservation for Camp Dolphin to use it?

Ascardino - If you go to the Dolphin web site, you do need advance reservations. You may want to call them. Please report back about your dining experience, as well as the Camp Dolphin experience!

Thanks!! Have a great trip!!!

Yes, you can get Camp Dolphin for 2 hours free. You just have to reserve a spot and then when you pick up your kid/s you show them your receipt.

My kids (7 & 4) went to Camp Dolphin one night when DH and I went to Shula's. This was this past June.

If you get them in before 6pm or 6:30pm (not sure, can't remember), they'll take them to dinner too. They had dinner either at Tubbi's or the Dolphin Ice Cream Parlor. The kids got their choice of hamburger, chicken strips, or grilled cheese sandwich. It comes with fries, juice or milk or soda, and then they got a dessert on top of that (ice cream cones).

In the Camp Dolphin room, they had arts & crafts, video games, a big arcade game, tv, role playing stuff. There was 2 staff members there at the time we went. After dinner, the kids were given tokens to use at the Dolphin's arcade which is right next to Tubbi's.

My kids had a wonderful time there. They really enjoyed themselves and they wanted to go back again.

On a side note, when we went to Shula's, I saw several tables that had kids. One table had a toddler that still used a high chair, another table had boys about 6-7 yrs old and a toddler. I know there isn't a kid's menu there but I didn't see anyone turned away just because they brought their kids to Shula's.

I also saw some people in t-shirts and jeans and someone in business casual shorts too, including DH.

My little girl just likes going to the kids clubs - especially for the arts & crafts! The first time we tried Boma's, she went to Simba's Clubhouse and had a great time - she loved coloring with the markers!!

She'll be eating with us at California Grill, but I thought she may enjoy a kids club again! And Camp Dolphin really sounds like a lot of fun!!!

Thanks again!!!!!

Thanks for all the info. I called the Dolphin today and made a reservation for the kids at Camp Dolphin and changed Shula's to dinner for two. I also decided to surprise my hubbie with a little anniversary celebration (# 5 in Nov). A little early but I am due right around our anniversary this year so this way it won't get lost with everything else.

Anyway, I know my kids will love it too. They thoroughly enjoyed the care at BCV when we went earlier this year and in fact, did not want to leave, so maybe I might even extend it beyond the two free hours! :cool1:

Also, they did confirm that dropping them off at 6:30pm would include dinner for them as well. :cheer2:

What was the hourly cost since it could include dinner, or did you have to send your kids with spending money? That would seem to good to be true if it were vouchered for the time spend there (2hours) and their dinner included.

They said dinner was included during the two free hours and if they were there at 8:30pm they also received tokens for a trip to the arcade. I confirmed that I just had to show them my receipt from Shula's for the complimentary baby sitting.

It has me thinking about making another reservation at Bluezoo....

that's right, the dinner is included in the price. I didn't have to send the kids with any money whatsoever. It was great because the meal at Tubbi's/Dolphin Fountain was easily $5-$10 plus the tokens, and it was all free with your meal. At $10/hour/child, I'd say it was a fantastic deal!

They got about 10 tokens each (IIRC) to use at the arcade. They were also allowed to take home their arts and crafts things.

I am going to surprise DH with a little weekend trip next year for our 11th anniversary and looked into Camp Dolphin for our DD who will be 4 next year. The only thing I am worried about is it is for 4-12 and so far I have seen(here and other boards) "older" (7 and up) kids going. I am hoping she will be ok. She has no problem with strangers, I just hope there are some younger kids that she could play with.

Anyone here have younger ones, and how were they at Camp???

Thanks! :flower:

I wouldn't worry about it. As I said, my kids were 7 and 4 when they went to CD. When they were there, there was a girl who was about 5, another girl about 6, and a boy about 5. DS7 was actually the oldest of the bunch.

They have 2 staff members working there to watch the kids. DS4 is on the shy side with strangers but he had no problems. He was just happy coloring, and making crafts with the staff.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Even if your DD is the only child there, the staff will play with her and shower her with attention.

Last night my 2 dd 4 and 8 went to Camp Dolphin while we ate at Shulas. They had a wonderful time. My 4 yr old cried when we came to pick her up. We ended up leaving them longer so they could play in the Arcade. They want to go back tonight-LOL. Barb
