Cameras.. what would you suggest?

I bought the dock too and ended up not using it at all. I got this great charger at Radio shack that was very compact for the batteries and never needed the dock. I had packed two camera bags containing one camera, one dock, all the power cords, the TV connector cord, my charger, two 4-packs of batteries, the batteries that go with the dock, my memory card case, and my memory cards as well as a waterproof disposable (which never even got opened). In the end it was quite ridiculous and just ended up taking space in my suitcase I could have better used for Donald stuff!!

Next time I'm just gonna take the camera, the cards, the TV cord (you don't need the dock to use it, it plugs directly into the camera), the little charger and the batteries. They will all fit just perfectly in my little bag. Oh yeah, and I'm also gonna get a tripod. Definitely a must-have as I so disappointingly found out!!

The dock is great for home use though and I can't imagine life without it, I just don't want to have to lug it in my suitcase. Maybe if I hadn't packed for a month's trip for only 7 days at Disney and hadn't insisted on carrying on my tote (I was afraid to put all the camera equipment in my suitcase) on the plane, it wouldn't have been so bad!! I tend to pack the kitchen sink, if you know what I mean?!?!

We bought the Kodak 6490, an slr digital. Love it, it's not tiny, but not huge, about 11oz. Has 4mp and 10x zoom.
:p

OK
What do you think? Kodak easyshare CX7430?
It was in the paper this morning for $249 including Free 128MB secure digital. Is this a good model for easyshare and is this a good value. I really just don't know much about cameras.
I really think I want to go with an easyshare since I have heard good things about them from folks on here.

We got a Koda Easy Share 5.0MP for about $299 last Thanksgiving., then we bought the docking station. It included rechargable batteries. The camera also takes movies with sound.

I love the camera. The batteries last a long time between charging. I think on vacation we recharge once in a weeks time and we take hundreds of pictures plus many movies a day. The docking station makes unloading the pictures into our lap top so easy. We push the button and everythign is put into the lap top.

I dont know the model number because its in the shop. We dropped it a few too many times and it has to be repaired. I cant wait to get it back.

With 5.0 MP the pictures print out like regular pictures.

After reading many reviews, we decided to upgrade our digital camera. Just this morning, we purchased the Kodak Easy Share DX7440 (4.0 MP - special zoom lens and color chip). It is on sale at Circuit City this week. $299 plus a free $30 additional battery and a $13 camera case. The 256 MB card is also on sale, plus a rebate. For about $375, we got a $350 camera, 356MB card, extra rechargeable battery and a camera case.

While I've only had several hours to make some test prints, I am truly happy with this camera. I've read many reviews and compared the different Kodak models, and decided to wait until this one went on sale.

We did not purchase the docking station, which so far we don't need, since the camera came with a recharger that plugs into a socket (easy for traveling!!!).

We will bring our new digital as well as a 35mm (with landscape printing capability) on our upcoming trip. I'm guessing we will need to purchase additional memory cards.

Whatever camera you buy, the No. 1 tip is to buy a memory card big enough to shoot at the camera's maximum resolution (usually the large/super fine setting). If you shoot at a lower setting, you're paying $$$ for megapixels you are not using. With the exception of perhaps a 5 MP or larger camera, you should always shoot at the highest resoultion in case you need to crop shots for photo reprints.

I am constantly amazed by people who shell out $400 for a digicam, but won't spring for the memory card to allow them to take advantage of it. A good tips article including this tip may be found here:
