Cameras at Universal Studios

We're planning to visit Universal Studios for a couple of days and I was wondering what camera gear to bring. I understand that they are much more strict than Disney about cameras.

Can I bring a DSLR on fast rides? Can I bring a P&S with a wrist strap? Can I wear a GoPro?

Can I take non-flash photographs in shows?

Any advice on what cameras to bring or not bring is welcome. My options range from a full DSLR kit with tripod down to a small p&s and/or some wearable GoPros.

You won't be able to take a dslr on any of the fast rides. They do supply free lockers at each of those rides, to temporarily use. You can get away with a p&s by putting in your pocket though. And I'm not sure about the GoPro, but if I had to guess, I'd say No.

There's no problem taking your DSLR and tripod into the parks there. It's just dealing with rides that's the problem.

I locked my Canon 5D MKII & 24-70 lens to Universal Studios without a problem. In order to open the locker, you must scan your finger prior to locking it.

One problem i might see is the tripod. I'm not sure if it'll fit into their lockers. I have the Boda lens bag and that fits into the locker perfectly with some room left for my wife's handbag.

But beware of soggy finger prints. I've heard of people having trouble operating lockers if they are all wrinkle-y on their fingers.

That has happened to me! Mine wasn't soggy but we spent like 10 minutes trying to rescan my index finger. I should have used my good finger. My left index finger is missing a chunk of flesh which was healed so I was thinking it was the scar that was causing the incomplete scan.
