"Camera": Stupid name or not?

Here's a tip to think about when naming your kid:

Say:

"And now the next President of the United States: (name)!"

If the name sounds awkward in that sentence, perhaps its a bad idea.

I have a more practical tip to think about when naming your kid:
Stand at the bottom of the stairs and start shouting names. Whatever sounds best and strains your voice the least should be your choice. Get used to it.

BONUS TIP: It also works well to practice saying the full formal first and middle and last names in a stern and frustrated tone.

But it could be worse- my fave celebrity child name is Penn Gillette's daughter, Moxie Crimefighter Gillette.

At least that is easy to pronounce and spell.

There are a lot of Asian and Middle Eastern families in our town, so a lot of unusual names, but none I can think of that mean something in English like Camera does. You said she has a difficult to pronounce last name- could Camera be a more common name in some other culture? If so at least there's a decent explanation!

But I have to agree, in this country- that name is going to cause problems for the poor kid!

The wife is of British descent I believe (last name was Richards).

Their last name is Polish.

I have no idea if "Camera" means something in Poland or not! Anyone know? I suppose it could, although they never said such a thing. Just that they thought it was...you guessed it..."unique"! Ding ding! The magic word!
