Camera Review/Recomendation

Hi-We are looking at a new digicam replacing a 4mp cannon. I really like the images we get-but the poor thing has been dropped few two many times. I am considering the
Powershot S3 is or
Powershot G7-

Any thoughts/reviews on either would help a lot. Thanks in advance

The G7 is the nicer camera. It has less zoom, but is that important to you? It has a larger sensor, so should get better results in terms of resolution power and image noise. It has a hot-shoe for external flashes. It is pretty close to having a DSLR.

The problem... It costs more than some DSLRs. Is it worth the cost increase over the S3? For me, no way. Also, if you are willing to spend that much, why not go ahead and get a DSLR? You can get the Pentax K110D with kit lens for $450. It would give you better results and room to grow. Just an idea.
