I was thinking of buying a disposable, waterproof camera to bring to TL when we do the swimming-with-the-sharks thingie. Any suggestions on what brand of camera to buy (or to definitely not buy)?

Also, I’d like to carry the camera around the rest of the park to take pix. Can I bring a camera on the slides? Even the ones where you have to lie back and bring your arms tight up against your chest? I know BF was allowed to (or, rather, had to) take off his water shoes and hold them while going down the big, big slide at BB; will the CMs allow the same thing with a camera?

Any suggestions re waterproof cameras welcome. Thanks!

I used the kodak disposable waterproof camera when I was in the Bahamas and was happy with the results...but some of the bright colors of the fish did not show up very well (I guess you can't expect professional quality with a disposable camera) They were best when I was really close to the fish. I'm not sure about taking in on the slides, but I'm sure someone will know the answer.

I second minime's comments - my disposable didn't take that great of pictures in the shark reef (but it was also an overcast day). And I don't do those big slides, but if they let someone hold shoes, I can't imagine you couldn't hold a camera. I always take one to the water park and keep in on my wrist. I've gotten great pictures on the lazy river and in the wave pool.

and it stays attached to my wrist on everything. Although I don't do the very tall slides, I do the others. I use a FUJI everytime with great success. Do the shark reef first thing in am and your pictures will be great. I have found that the sediment stirred up during the day by all the snorkelers is the big culprit in poor pictures there.

We always use the Kodak one. Like everyone else we've gotten good pictures. Be sure not to get sunscreen on the case that covers the lens or the pics will come out cloudy.

Thanks for the feedback!

oogieboogie: If only! :earseek: The cost of the camera could pay for a few extra days at the World! :) :)

See what recommendations the camera instructions has (hopefully visible on the outside of the box) for how far down in the water you can take on a sunny day, how far down you can take on a cloudy day, etc. If the camera has a flash I suspect you should be able to take underwater pictures of things 6 feet away from you, maybe a little more.

I had some Fuji disposable water proof cameras that I bought at Target for about $8 each. We took them to Discovery Cove and the pictures turned out pretty good. I bought the digital photos, too, so I can touch them up with my Photoshop program. If you wait to buy them at the water park they will cost a bunch more. They were $20 at DC.

I've used the Fuji & Kodak waterproof disposable cameras and much prefer the Fuji. The lever to take pictures was much easier to use than the Kodak, and I think from what I've read that Fuji film is better anyway.

Here is a photo taken a few year ago of my kids underwater with one of those cheap-o Kodak disposables. It's grainy because I took a 4X6 photo, put it in one of those Kodak Photomakers and blew it up. I don't have the original photo on hand to scan in, but it's VERY clear. I was extremely happy with the little disposable, especially since my stepdad (who's a professional photographer) owns a true underwater camera that costs just under $10,000 and his photos aren't THAT much better...teehee!!!

Well, I've used the green Fuji waterproof ones before, and the pics come out fine, under water too!

But last year, before out trip to Miami and Orlando, i bought in wal mart a camera in a waterproof case. The camera is a regular 35mm and you can open the waterproof clear plastic box and get the camera out to change the film, so instead of paying for 3 or 4 waterproof disposable, i just use regular film, the pics from the beach and the pool come out just fine, of course not like a digital or a super good 35mm.

It wasn't too expensive, but i don't remmember the price right now! No more than 30.00 i know that!
