Canon 17.1%
Sony 16.7%
Kodak 11.8%
Nikon 8.2%
HP 7.5%
Olympus 6.9%

The most interesting thing is that Canon holds 59% of the global dSLR market. :worship:

And now, I exit this forum section. It is just too unpleasant here for a Kodak owner. Someone is on a rampage.

I thought this would be a forum to enjoy pictures and cameras and share info and pictures, but some here know so much, so vehemently, it has become impossible for me to feel anything but irritated when I come here. I didn't realize this was a race, or a "pro" forum.

Ahhhhh the good ol' days, when it didn't matter what camera you had, or how much scientifically analyzed NOISE you had, when one could just look at pictures. (Sigh.)

And yeah, I know, my camera sucks Kelly, and that's how I feel when I come here. Who needs it???

The rest of the time I enjoy my camera very much. I get prints that my friends and family love. I've been asked to take pictures of neighbor's kids and have been paid. My DPreview forum friends always have wonderful things to say when I post and I feel great. Then I come here...

I have finally realized this is just an unnecessary unpleasantness here thanks to your obsession.

Very disappointing to me.

huh?

So YOU can share your info but I can't?

My DPreview forum friends always have wonderful things to say when I post and I feel great. Then I come here...

You're preaching to the choir. Of course Kodak lovers will defend Kodak cameras. Just like Canon lovers defend Canon cameras, or Olympus lovers defend Olympus cameras.

The rest of the time I enjoy my camera very much. I get prints that my friends and family love. I've been asked to take pictures of neighbor's kids and have been paid.

So what if I use Canon? I also use Fuji and in fact the last picture I sold was the one taken using a Fuji A345 (low-end US$140 camera, the bottom-rung of global marketshare). But do I prefer the Fuji A345 than my Canon (A95, 300D, 20D, 5D) or Olympus (C-7070) or Minolta (Dimage A2)? No, I still prefer my Canon.

my camera sucks Kelly, and that's how I feel when I come here
People ask for opinion. I gave them my opinion based on objective / tangible points and not based on subjectivity. You give your opinion too. So why so defensive? Lots of posters here also use Kodak, Sony, etc and their pictures can be great too. However, we are NOT talking about picture composition etc, we are talking about which camera to buy. Again, I only answered them from the technical standpoint; something that's objective and tangible. I don't even talk about ergonomics because it's subjective, I don't talk about weight distribution because again it's subjective.

Is it wrong when I state the fact that if someone buys a Kodak + adapter + lenses that the price will almost equivalent to Canon S2IS plus by getting the Canon they'll get less grainy picture, 12x zoom and Image Stabilizer?

I personally do not defend any type of camera, gun, etc. I use what I like or appeals too me. I drive a Chevy for a car, a ford for a truck. I think some people who invest their bucks do research and ask others opinions, but if you look on other boards there is a lot of flaming going on based on brands and SUBJECTIVITY. It does no good to buy a camera that does not fit your hands, or you can not see thru the eye piece no matter how great someone thinks it is. My Hass will take better pics than what I have seen posted on this board and any others and it uses FILM. It Most folks do not have the patience or want to take the time to figure out proper exposure, yahda, yahda..
Digital photgraphy flourishes because it is easy, convienent, and allows user input that does not take years of experience and high end equipment to get a decent photo.
Facts are facts, it is how the facts are presented. I like things straight up, others do not.

Photography is supposed to be fun, not a war zone..My two bits.

Reminds me of a group of three having a discussion about their cameras. One owned a Canon, another a Minolta and the third a Nikon.

You would have thought WWIII was in progress.

No one was winning until I joined in..... There wasn't anything better than my Box camera :teeth: :teeth:

I own several brands. Why?? Because I bought what I thought was the best at the time.

Right now that Panasonic FZ30 is looking good to me. I might add another brand to my collection. Will wait a bit as rumor has it there is going to be an FZ31 out shortly with reduced noise. Maybe by then all the others may have something better.

Bottom line.... Being happy with what you got is the important thing.

By the way I can buy that car cheaper than any of you can!!! (remember that one??) Use to drive my dad nuts.

I have a Nikon film SLR, Nikon Digital SLR, Canon digital point & Shoot, Sony video camera, a Sony HDTV, Denon receiver, Panisonic DVD player. We drive a Toyota Corolla and a Dodge Cavaran. I have a pair of boots I bought at Wal-Mart for $40 that have far outlasted the $100 pair I bought from LL Bean. AND I'v been a loyal devotee to Red Sox Nation for 30+ years.

Why? So what. They work for me. Will they work for you? Maybe. Maybe not, but if you want to talk about it and have opinions on what works for you thats fine. People can agree to disagree. Thats what we do. I don't care what you say or how you say it, but my opinion is that the Yankees S#$K. I'm not going to change my mind, but I'm still going to love baseball and my Red Sox.

If you like your ______ brand camera. Fine. But if someone else doesn't like it thats their opinion. Don't pick up your ball in the middle of the game and go home because you don't like the possible outcome.

Be the better person, keep taking great pictures with your camera and post them here for all to see. If you want to sit behind your computer and stick your tongue out in spite as you get possitive feedback go right ahead.

But to just leave, well, you can just form your own opinion of what you think of people who do that. If its your opinion that this post is a little over the top. Well, thats fine too. Its your opinion.

Ok, I'm off my soap box.

To anyone else who might read this thread, my response really has nothing to do with this particular post, but with a history it is not worth going into. I personally think all camera brands have shining stars and have absolutely no concern whatsoever what brand anyone has. I have never, ever had a bad word to say about any brand myself. I seriously and only enjoy taking and seeing pictures.

My exit has nothing to do with this post directly. I am sorry if I've given the wrong impression.

Just received my first subscription to Popular Photography, they have a shootout between entry level dSLR (Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Pentax), the winner for picture quality is Canon.

It won because they didn't include my box camera with the snap-on tele lens and my camera case made by Kroger. Cost me a penny (didn't want to buy any groceries.)

PS Minolta (Konica Minolta) doesn't count anymore. They left the camera business and is turning it over to Sony as of March 1.
