We've never been to Universal but from what I have read, it seems like you need to put backpack/waist packs in lockers for a lot of the rides? Should I leave it back at the hotel? How difficult is it to get a locker? Are the lockers located near rides. Rides must be more intense then Disney.....

The lockers are easy to use but can get crowded. We have used them a few time because we bought something only. Its easier to leave your stuff at the hotel and throw a small camera in your pocket.:thumbsup2

We just took a fanny pack & my camera. I Usually take my backpack.
I did to DW but it was too much of a hassle. the lockers work very well.

Yes the lockers are easy and like Bluer101 said they do get really crowded and if your camera can fit in your pocket take it that way cause I can't count how many times I saw people have to get out of line when they tell them they can't bring it on the ride

There are lockers that you pay for (I think it was $8 per day?) at the entrance to the parks. One day last week, we brought our camera and a pack to Universal. We tried to use the free lockers at Men In Black. I know its a very crowded week but the line to get a locker was longer than the line to get onto the ride. The video screen in each section stated that all the lockers were in use. People would come up, empty their locker, shut the door and then see the glowing light that indicated the locker was available. I guess they thought that meant the locker wasn't cleared of their info yet, so over and over we saw people press the button. That kept the lockers unavailable for others to use. The video screens messages changed to something about no doors being available. My suggestion would be to forgo any bags whenever possible and if you have a large camera, plan one camera day.

Are you guys saying that most rides not the roller coasters, you can't have a back pack with you??? For for example Jaws, Simpson ride, ET, Shrek and the water rides etc: I want the back pack to carry our refillable mugs in and some snacks for the kids.
