Hi there. We are thinking of going out to this waterpark over Labor Day weekend. Looking for some info:

Any recent reviews? My boys are 14 & 9

Is the park clean? Does it get overcrowded? I know a holiday weekend will be busy....

Any thoughts on where to stay? Although the drive is only 2 hours, 15minutes not sure if we will want to stay over one night.

Thanks!!!

Labor day weekend - I'm guessing PACKED unless it stays as cool as it's been today!

We love this place- it's clean! Well kept! Fun! But Horribly laid out- the hills are unbelivable- well it's built on a ski mountain- so be prepared to hike it!

Where to stay? Hmm I don't know we are close enough to day trip it. There is a great wolf lodge but that defeats the purpose of Camelback. And there is a hotel right on the mountain- but we've never stayed there so I can't comment on it.

There are a number of hotels around CamelBeach. There is a Comfort Inn near/in Bartonsville that is reasonable and from what I understand, clean.

If Mom and Dad want to have some fun at night with the kiddies in the room, you can head to Mount Pocono and stay at Mount Airy Resort and Casino. It was opened within the past 2 years and everyone who stays there says that it is amazing. The lobby and casino are beautifully done. Remember, PA only allows for slots, so far, so there are no table games, if you're into those.

I have no problem with CamelBeach. I find it no less tiring than a day at Blizzard Beach. My kids love it there. Parking is close enough that you can take a picnic lunch and there is a pavillion outside the park for you to eat. Food inside the park is VERY expensive... but as so in any park these days.

It will be crowded labor day weekend, so get there early and have fun! Temps are supposed to be around 80.

On a funny note, we took our GS troop to CB in July. We always allow parents and siblings to opt in at our group rate. One of the mothers took her DS (HS age) with us. When the day was over without much ado, there were several people who came out with sunburns because they didn't keep reapplying their sunscreen. So, anyway, this mother calls our troop leader to yell at her and ask what the troop was going to do for her DS who was severely sunburned. While we could sympathize with her and her DS for the pain he was in and the damage he'd done to his skin, she was THERE with her DS and could have reminded him to either put on sunscreen or to reappy it. Supposedly, she took him to a plastic surgeon because of his burn. :confused3

When she got nowhere with our troop, she called CB to complain. Can you imagine? They did nothing for her either. It is the individual's responsibility to protect themselves from the sun on a cloudless day.

But, I digress... she's the same mother who called to say her DD was pushed off the stage at the father/daughter dance even though none of the girls were on the "stage" that was about an inch off the floor. Some people just like to complain.

Have a great time on Sunday!

We've been one time. It was crowded, but it's a nice crowd and a clean park. One bonus....and this is almost a necessity with a waterpark in the Poconos....the water is heated. :thumbsup2

It is supposed to be heated, but it wasn't in July when temps around here were still cold. If it was heated, it wasn't heated much.
