I would appreciate recommendations for camcorders.

I am looking into getting a new one since our old one is 9 years.

I am looking for one that doesn't have to hook up to the computer..

thanks!!

Kelly Grannell has a "sticky" dealing with this very issue, at the top of this board. Beyond that, I'd suggest you peruse www.camcorderinfo.com to get up to speed on the various models in your price range, and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Can't offer much more than that, w/o some more specifics. I don't know of any camcorder, btw, that you must connect to a computer to view the video. You can connect the camcorder to a regular TV with supplied cables, and use the camcorder itself for playback. You *can* (as I have done) connect a camcorder, via firewire cable, to a properly configured computer, capture the video, and then make a DVD from the capture.

Hope this helps.
