Hi everyone. I just had a quick question about my camcorder and if it gets wet. What do I do if it does get wet and how is the best way to keep it dry. I will be in WDW the first week of December.

I carry a couple of quart size zip locks and if it rains or we go on splash mountain, DH carries the camcorder inside ziplock in his pocket and I carry the camera and my cell phone in one in my bag.

We'll be in WDW the second week of December. Have fun!

I always get those Ziploc XL bags...the ones that hold like 5 gallons or 10 or whatever. I put my entire backpack IN it for the water rides. I even put it in there for Kiliminjaro and then put it in the center thingie that keeps your stuff dry.

Those things are the best invention ever. Got them here locally at the Johnson Wax store but I think Target carries them.

That's a good idea. We take a small ziploc for the camera, but I'll find some large ones before we go.

If electronics get wet, try to dry the outside as best as possible. Then immediately remove the battery and let it air out for at least 24 hrs. You can also try a hair dryer on the cool, low setting, but you might risk blowing more water inside. Once its dried out, hook up the battery and see if it works (crossing your fingers).

Now if it's salt water, forget it. That will fry and corrode anything in no time! Prevention is the best thing! Also, keep in mind that humidity can also do damage. Just going from an ac room to the outside over time will damage your stuff. Check out stores like Divers Direct. They sell these things called Moisture Munchers (basically little packs of silicon type stuff that will absorb moisture and turn from blue to pink. There was one in the battery compartment of my new underwater camera and it had turned pink). I also save those little packs of silicon/silica ??? that come in new electronic boxes and vitamins, etc and toss them in my camera bad. Not sure how well they work, but its worth a try!

If you'd like to see those big bags, go here:

and look on the right where it says "big bags." That's the packaging you'd be looking for. :) There's 3 different sizes.
