Calm my AP discount fears

I plan to buy AP for upcoming December trip---am hoping to see AP discounts come out in the next few days.

I will not have my AP or voucher at the time I hope to be able to reserve a discounted room (have one at rack rate as backup now). Please reassure me that I will not need any special verification on the AP when I call to try and get the discounted reservation.

Historically, how much has the AP discount been in the past?

They have never asked me for verification of the AP at booking, but they may ask for it at check-in. Sometimes they don't even ask at check-in.

The discounts are usually between 20% and 40%.

I have been asked for my voucher/AP number only when I booked last December. I have never been asked at any other time. So, you might be asked. If you are, explain it hasn't arrived yet and see what happens. If they won't book it, thank them politely, hang up, call back and try another CM.
