My family was very excited when I told them I had booked a cat 3 suite for this year's cruise - but DW is worried that #8102, being on the very back (sorry - aft) of the ship, that the rocking of the ship will be more pronounced and bothersome. We were in 7076, very near midship, last year and it was great. We are all looking forward to the comfort of the suite, but will we notice any extra motion of the ship?? Has anyone stayed in this suite, or nearby it, who can tell us if there's any difference from being midship??

THANKS...

Oh just take a Bonine and enjoy that fabulous room and balcony;)

(Hey Beano how goes it? )

IMO, the difference in motion between forward, aft, and midships is inperceptible. The ship is the length of three football fields, so you just can't get that much forward-to-back rocking when waves are working on something that long. 8102 is extra large. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

BeanoC -
On our 1st cruise we were booked into 8102 but about 2 weeks before the cruise we were notified that the royal suite had become available so we grabbed it. Keep your fingers crossed, it could happen again and even if not 8102 is a great room. That verandah is spectacular !!!!!!!!

We had 8602 on our cruise, it is the one on the opposit side of the ship but still as far aft as you can go. We loved it. I am prone to sea sickness and I stopped taking my bonine after 2 days. I don't think there was any more noticible rocking than we had mid ship.

You will love the balcony - it is large enough to hold a baseball team.

I am on a waiting list for a cat. 1or 2. Were you on a list? I was also wondering how they contacted you and how was the balcony in the 1, did you have lounge chairs? Sounds like silly questions but I was just curious. Thanks. Terri:)

We have been assigned 8102 for our June 8 Western cruise on Magic. We'll let you know how we like it!

BTW--does anyone know if it has a pull down wall cot. Will my two kids have to share the sofa bed?

Thanks

8102 only sleeps 4, there is no pull down bed any where. Right now I have 8602, the same room other side, reserved for july5 2003 and we are on a waitlist for a suite that will sleep 5. So yes your kids will have to sleep on the sofa sleeper. Have a great time and enjoy the awesome deck! Terri

It will have the pull-down berth. The sofa bed is a single berth (the back of the sofa pulls over to form a twin bed). They would not have booked the four of you into a room without the pull-down berth.

We were in 8590, just a few doors down. I am quite prone to motion sickness, but did not notice much at all and, like Tnrobin, quit the bonine after 2 days with no problems.

My brother (next door) and I both observed that our rooms seemed to have less motion than our mother's room toward the front of the ship. It seemed as if the front was rocking up and down further with the back being stable.

The veranda in your room looks spectacular - enjoy!!

I just talked to DCL since I was getting different answers to my question about sleeping accomodations for the kids in Cat 3 #8102. DCL confirmed that it is a double sleeper couch. There is no pull down berth. Not the answer I wanted, but at least I know for sure.

Ok, now I am confused about the sleeping accomodations!

Are you telling me that the kids have to share a couch bed?
Impossible! They'll kill each other! ;)

No bunk type beds or at least seperate beds for the kids?
That doesn't seem right... I don't like that.

I know it's a big room - can they bring in a rollaway bed or something?

I just double checked with DCL. There is no pull down berth in this room and they have no roll away beds. We are stuck since it is so close to our cruise date. There are no available alternative rooms.

I think it is very misleading that the Cruise brochure shows pictures of kids in rooms with seperate beds/berths, not kids doubled up in a small double couch bed. If I had known that our kids would have to double up, we would have changed rooms.

I hope you are able to change your room. Good Luck.

Well, that sucks! ;)

I was really looking forward to the large stateroom and the huge private deck, but if the kids would be forced to sleep together on a hide-a-bed, that just won't work. We'd be better off with a cat.5 room with the pull-down berth.

Now I don't know what to do! Do any of the other cat. 3 suites have bunk-type beds for the kids, or at least seperate twin beds or something like that? Help!!

The 4 cat. 3 midship have a pulldown bed in the living room area and the other ones with the exeption of the handicapp ones have the pull down in the bedroom. Good luck!
