Calling to cancel a CC dining ressie

When you call to cancel a CC guaranteed meal.. like CRT... is the CM supposed to give you a cancellation number?

My son has no interest in going THERE in June so I just called and cancelled our ressie.Should I have gotten a cancellation # so my CC doesn't get charged by mistake.

They gave me one when I canceled my CRT ressie, but I did not receive one when I canceled my CM ressie. I would call back and confirm the cancellation.
