Most schools around Baytown are starting on the 14th of August. It's too early, IMHO. Just a guess but, will your dh be working for Chevron Phillips?:wave2: I hope you have a smooth move to our neck of the woods.

I loooooove seeing so many Texans. I am in League City now and have never lived more than 10 miles from Johnson Space Center. I have lived in Clear Lake, Seabrook, Webster and now League City! We should have a Dis Meet!

I agree! But this should be the last year for a while! The state decided that starting next year schools cannot start any earlier than the 4th Monday in August and districts can no longer apply for waivers.

:wave2: Howdy Neighbor - I posted earlier - we live in Clear Lake. Our schools start August 10 and my kids are even more ready than I am for school to start...

An El Paso Dis'er posted on our cruise meet thread- they are ready to evacuate (if needed) because all the rain that has been falling in the El Paso area is about to breech the levees...yikes!

Wow, I never realized there were so many Texans here on the DIS.

I live in San Antonio currently and will be transferring to UT Austin next fall :wave2:

Do you know where you'll be living? My SIL is also transferring there this fall. You can PM me the info. I think she's going to be a government something major.

It's been so hot here that I'm just about ready to leave Texas!

Well no, not really ;) but I wish that we could get some relief. We're in stage 3 water restrictions now and it's SO hot!

Hey fellow Texans. I'm originally from the Houston area so it's really interesting to see who all lives down there now.

Fort Worth..............Northwest edge.

Am I there yet--why do you like the Klein ISD so much?? We are in the Cy Fair ISD and love it. But, we are thinking of moving. I was looking at HAR.com and finding a few homes I like in the Klein and Spring ISD's( know anything about the Spring ISD??). I think I like the school that we are in right now because I can walk my kids to it. It will be really tough to move away from a hiker/biker school to one where the kids have to take a bus!!!

Actually Cy Fair is a great school district too! My sister lives off of 290 and FM 1960 and her daughters both graduated from CFISD. There are a couple of firefighter wives that I've sold homes to, that are teachers for CFISD as well.

KISD is just closer to where we were living at the time and it had good ratings. At the time it was the best school district in Texas. I think ever since then, it's alternated between CFISD and KISD, but others in the area are gaining on them.

Spring ISD... well, lets just say I won't say anything. :teeth: Some schools have a great reputation and others not so much.

All three school districts have their fair share of low achievers and high achievers though. I think the individual child has more to do with it than the school district itself.

PM me if you want any assistance in your home search. Although I'm a product of Houston Independent School District, I am a great real estate agent. :lmao:

I think a while back we had this discussion, but where in the area were you from again?

You're kidding! Wow!

My DD20 just transferred to Tech and she was talking about how different the weather is there, than it is here.

We've had SO much rain lately! All they've had is major wind!

Baytown, Clear Lake, League City! This is great!

How did I miss this thread???? :confused3

DH is from Beaumont and I'm originally from Houston. DH is a firefighter for the City of Conroe and we live in Spring.

We need to keep this thread alive! :thumbsup2

Am I there Yet--

Thanks for the info!! I think I will stay away from the Spring ISD--they have been on the news a whole lot this year--not for the good either. We live off 290 and barker Cypress right now. I love the area and would hate to move from it. When we moved here 4.5 years ago there was only a Randall's on the corner. Now, we have a brand new Wal-mart, Target, Hobby Lobby, Lowe's and on and on....We just need some new sit down resturants!!

I am currently looking for a different house. I am pretty picky though!! I would hate to get a realtor involved because I have been looking on Har.com for 6 mo. and still have not seen anything I would like to even look at--at least in our price range. It seems that the our subdivision is not increasing in value, so the houses that are much more $$$ than ours are really not that much nicer than the house we are living in. Not sure if that makes sense or not!!! :confused3

I wish it would rain here. San Antonio is under stage 1 water restriction and our grass is crunchy!!!
Keep cool, fellow Texans!!

We have darn near been flooding here in Beaumont.

We finally got a few days break

drakethib,

I have a question for you. We drove through Beumont on Sunday and at the Ford "grounds" it said something like home of the South Texas State Fair. What is that?? I know the state fair is in Dallas. Is this a mini version of the real State Fair? When is it held? It might be something to do for a day??

Mickeymo  hi to you too! I spent the first 22 years off my life in Clear Lake. I graduated from CLHS and even University of Houston Clear Lake then I went to work for CCISD for 10 years. I grew up in the Middlebrook/Brookforest area, what part are you in?
