How often have you come across a post and asked yourself "Why don't they just ask...(Disney, their travel agent, the airlines etc....)"

I believe it's because the people on this board are far more knowledgable than many of the professionals out there.

Yesterday I called Disney to gather information for an upcoming trip in January. Prices are not yet available for my dates but I know that with an AP you can sometimes get great rates on the hotels; I asked if I could purchase an AP when I buy the package or do I need to have have it beforehand?
Her reply: "You can upgrade from a Parkhopper to an AP at anytime". "Yes, I know this...but in order to get any specials given to an AP holder do I need to have it before purchasing a package?" Her reply " You need and AP in order to get AP pricing."
I said "Thank You" and hung up.

So dear friends...please help me out here. I plan to go to DL in early-mid January. I know there are some great specials to be had if I am an AP holder. Do I purchase that now or can I do it when purchasing my trip?

Also, which Good Neighbor hotels might also offer AP discounts and which site should I use to find such a thing?

A sincere "Thank You"
Rosie

Rosie, if you want to get an AP rate at a DLR Hotel, you do not have to have an AP when you make your ressie. However, you will need have an AP in order to check-in. They will sell you one at the hotel desk when you are checking in, if you don't purchase it ahead of time.

The only off-site hotel that offers AP discounts that I am aware of is HoJo. They offer a 20% discount. I'll go look for the code. . .FOUND IT -- "LNAP".

Thank You DangerMouse! See how easy that was???

She even gave me a code!:grouphug:

I rarely think that, the only exception is when people ask for something like the email for customer service, or phone number for dining. Still doesn't bother me, but its easier to get that kinda thing that is so straight forward off the official site.

I think alot of people read something that sparks a question they may have so they ask since they're already here. I know I've done that many times. Is that laziness or a good use of multitasking????:lmao:

its easyier and nicer to ask here and friends usely have the answers.

Its better to ask someone who knows, than it is to ask someone who should know! :thumbsup2

Sadly, it was the same with my AAA agent. I used them ( for WDW) because it was $300 cheaper than going through Disney or doing it myself...but I knew far more than she did and never trusted her to give me a knowledgable answer.

I guess that's the reason I could never bring myself to book through a travel agent! I make all the arrangements myself, so I feel pretty safe knowing I have done my homework! Thanks Disboard!
