I will be celebrating my 27th wedding anniversary this December, and would like to spend it at Disney world. This will be the first time at WDW with out the kids. I need advice on which Deluxe Resort you would recommend for this time of the season. Any and all help will be appreciated. :confused3

I voted for WL because I just adore the look of it but any of those would be awesome for a romantic anniversary getaway. We stayed at the Poly last Christmas and it was very nice and the CM's were quite friendly but it is very spread out. I'd rather be in the main building of the WL or even GF (which is beautiful but very 'girlie').

I voted for WL! :) IMHO WL is one of the most beautifully decorated resorts at Christmas-time. The huge tree in the lobby is just breathtaking. We split our stay in December (the only time we've ever split a stay) between the Polynesian & the WL. We stayed at the Poly the 1st 1/2 of our trip & then moved to the WL for the last couple of nights. We were very glad we did! While we both loved the Polynesian, it was great to see the WL all decked out.

We would definitely return to either resort in a heartbeat - but, I'd definitely choose WL in December. :teeth: Have a great Anniversary! We're celebrating our 5th this May at WDW!

My vote isn't one of the options, but I vote for the Beach Club! Just LOVE the gingerbread carousel. And all the gilded white poinsettia's adorning the walkways.
The only thing better than Christmas, is Christmas at Disney!!!

I voted for AKL because I've always thought it is the most romantic :lovestruc . I've stayed there 3 times and it is gorgeous. It is the one resort where I felt I could spend my whole vacation at the resort and be happy.
(BWI would be nice too, FYI.)
In addition, AKL is more affordable that most of the other Deluxes but it is also the newest and is very sophisticated. The animals and plants there are fabulous and there is a great Culinary Tour that my dad took and loved!
Jiko is a wonderful restaurant and the lounge, Victoria Falls, is great, too. There is a small fitness center where you could indulge in a massage or facial. My mother had an excellent massage there.
The pool is very large and there is a nice pool bar. Plus there are two very hot hot tubs ;)
The firepits (indoors and out) and the smells and music add so much to the rich atmosphere. You cannot go wrong!
Enjoy!

From the resorts on your list I voted the WL. However I personally love the BC. I love the theme, the gingerbread carousel and the location. My DH and I will be in the BC over christmas and new year.

My voted isn't one of the choices either. I LOVE the Boardwalk Inn at Christmas time. VERY PRETTY. From your choices I'd pick either the WL or GF

Now you know why I need help from all of you Vets! :rotfl: I didn't think to list all of the deluxe resorts on the poll. Please keep your comments coming. I am reading all of them and know this will help me in my final decission. This will be our first time back to WDW without kids since our honeymoon. At that time only the Magic Kingdom was around. So again, thanks for all your help and input. Keep the infomation coming. I can bet that I'm not the only one that can use this information. :

i voted for the wilderness lodge which is very romantic with the large lobby fireplace, but my favorite resort at christmas is the boardwalk inn which has some great xmas decor & exhibits like xmas villages made of chocolate & beautiful christmas trees. i also love all the entertainment on the boardwalk, how close epcot is, we head to world showcase every night and we love to come back at night and stroll the boardwalk, path & beach club beach across the way.

they also have specialty cruises from the yacht club across the way, which you can request a pick up at bwi, we did this for a romantic evening on a pontoon for an illuminations firework cruise which we just loved! we also did the breathless moonlite cruise at the yacht club which was just as enchanting.
you can book either through 407-wdw-play

have a wonderful wdw anniversary trip! congrats on your years together!

:cool1: :cool1: We just love the Boardwalk. It is beautiful during the Christmas season. Also, location, location, location. If you enjoy Epcot then this is the place for you. After Epcot you can stroll around the lagoon and decide what you would like to do. IMHO, I would chose one of the Epcot resorts. :cool1: :cool1:

my vote is also for the Boardwalk. I have stayed at both BWI and WL at christmas time and love BWI. Good Luck. It is a tough decision- I know!

After researching the Boardwalk, I wish I had included it on the list. It looks like a very nice resort to considered. :moped:

We went in December for our 25th anniversary. Also no kids with us - it was fun. We stayed at the AKL for 2 nights then the Poly LVC for 7 nights. We are from NJ and wanted something DIFFERENT for Christmas, We visited all of the other deluxes and it was fun, but remember you don't sleep in the lobby! The size of the rooms and location of the Poly could not be beat in our opinion.

Good luck on your decision, and congrats!

Pat

I would have voted for the Poly, because it's our favorite resort. However, you're going when all of the Christmas decorations will be up. The Poly doesn't have the most lavish of decor for X-mas, but the Grand pulls out all the stops!! I would give the Grand the #1 spot for X-mas decor! It's a great resort, lovely rooms, great views, wonderful CMs. You'll love it!!!

Stay At The Polynesian!!!

DW and I did our first "empty-nester" trip there in October 2003, and it was the best. I can't think of anything more romantic that walking though the paths at night, lit by tiki torches, listening to the piped-in island music, while looking at the castle and the lagoon. :love2: . You can always go to the other resorts to see the decorations (and, IMHO, they're not as "woo-hoo" as I expected), but for laid-back couples romanticality, the Polynesian wins, hands-down.

Be well!

I'd have to say out of the resorts you list, probably the WL would be the best. However, I think you missed it when you didn't include the three Epcot Resorts. The BC, YC, and BWI all have wonderful themed displays, and you can't beat the location for these resorts. You can walk to Epcot and boat/walk to MGM.

Also, being able to get up early in the morning and take a stroll along the Boardwalk with Christmas music playing in the background is just so relaxing. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

From what I have been reading,it sounds like you should pick the resort that you think you would like the most, and make sure and visit all the others for the decorations and themes. :cool1:

I vote for the GF! I have stayed (during December) at WL, BC, BWI and GF. I have also stayed at YC and the Poly in October. I choose GF because I love the romantic and sophisticated elegance of the resort (and it has NEVER felt stuffy, snooty or snobby. ;) The decorations in December outshine every other resort IMO, and the guestrooms are fabulous. I always feel pampered when I stay here. It's also my DH's very favorite!
