Debbie we'll take two too. Let us know about the cost.
Jan I believe the plan was meet at 7pm at the pool at the Radisson. As for dinner I thought there was some idea of trying to do something together. But am not sure and I think that was back around page (? uhn I don't know) maybe 10. But we can do dinner with you and Tom or with the whole crew or whatever.
Just got back from a nice dinner out with friends. I had Key Lime Pie for dessert. It is becoming a joke among family and friends. "What is everyone having for dessert? Oh, they have Key LIme Pie, Estelle, will be having that." Of course they are usually right. It was delicious. Going to digest now. Estelle

Hello Halloween Cruisers,

We will be cruising with you. We have been excited about this cruise since we booked last October at the end of our Land/Sea vacation.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Our vacation begins Oct 24 (My birthday) :earsgirl: I will be traveling with my DH :jester: (His birthday is Oct 31) and DS, 2 years old.

We were not planning to stay at the Radisson but if you can tell us how we can get that great deal...we might do it.

We will probably not do a lot of Halloween celebrating. We usually just celebrate DH's birthday. However, you can count on us to bring Goo Goo Clusters from Tennessee. Also, there is a Russell Stover's candy factory near where we live.

We are looking forward to meeting all of you.

Rochelle & Stephen

Just call and ask for the "FALL" special $59. night for single king room or $99. night for 2 Kings bed and a sleep sofa in the living room area. You can go to the Radisson site and look at the rooms. Call the resort direct 321-784-0000. Halloween birthday's how fun. Radisson.com

Debby we'll be at the Rad. so we'll take 3 leis off your hands.
You know were going to have quite a few families there. I believe 9 so far.

I thought we talked about dining at one of the port restaurants? Could we meet by the pool a little earlier then 7? Maybe cocktails  and our goody ;) say around 4' ish then head over to the restaurants around 6.:bounce: That will put us back at the Rad by 9 or 10 pm. I found something made here in Baltimore that I am bringing.

WELCOME ROCHELLE AND STEPHEN (and ??)
Tom said to tell you that you are close, but missed it a bit. His birthday is October 29 and we booked the cruise as a birthday celebration, not thinking about Halloween at all.

Now that these other people have gotten us thinking about Halloween we are more inclined to get involved. We usually do provide candy for the door-to-door kids but don't dress ourselves.
We may have costumes, in fact, I have a plan for me and DH is still thinking. I have not worn a costume since I was a kid--maybe 40 years ago. We plan to bring some treats for the children and there will be a Trick or Treat event with maps so that the children go to the staterooms of the members of our group who choose to participate. If your DS would enjoy that, he is welcome to go along. At his age, it may not be a biggie. There was some talk of enjoying lunch together after that--perhaps at Lumieres.

Did you read the whole thread? If you have any questions about any of our ideas, just ask. You can send a private e-mail to Debby (Masonpips) to get put on our cruise list.

Our plan is to enjoy each other's company when our paths cross but not to make anyone feel that they are obligated to be part of everything.

Looking forward to meeting you,
Jan & Tom

I like the way you put that Jan. But you mean that only for the ship right? While were at the Radisson I can pester the heck out of you right????:teeth:p :teeth:  :teeth:  :teeth:

Welcome Rochelle! I hope you can make the Radisson - it's going to be great! We fly in at 4:30, so we won't get there until 6, but if we pick a restaurant out beforehand, we'll probably just drive straight there and then check in after dinner.

Ok, leis thus far:
me: 4
ginger: 3
Estelle: 2
Jan: 2
njfamily: 4 (I had an email from her today, she should be back soon)
Rochelle: 3 (I'm putting you down for them!)

That's 18 so far.

They're only a quarter a piece so you can pay up whenever or everyone can chip in and buy me a drink at dinner (lol) which I might desperately need after flying through DFW (which I hate) with 2 kids! Actually they are usually very good travelers, so I think we'll be fine.

And a brief update on my dress issues. I bought one on ebay and have 2 others bid on currently. I might be finished this week! We do have matching outfits for the one of the casual nights. It's those print shirts (for dh/ds) and dresses (for dd/me) from the Disney store on sale (navy w/Mickey in a car)- I couldn't resist although dh thinks I'm slightly crazy. And DD and I have matching dresses for the Mexicali-whatever night. I bought them in Hawaii last year and we've never worn them. They're more Hawaiian than Mexican, but it seems that's what most wear. DS has a cute shirt he can wear, still have to work on dh.

I love how it's all coming together (3 months in advance)!!

:jester:That squirt bottle may come in handy for pesterers:jester:
:jester:I bet my son would loan me his Super Soaker...... :jester:

I figure if we see :) each other, we can greet :) each other and hang out :) if that works for everyone. That is not pestering, that is being friends. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Ginger: I doubt you could pester me more than I could pester you. I bet I could out pester anyone--Estelle--no fair agreeing with me. :) :)

Jan :earsgirl:

I think by the end of the week we're all going to be the best of buddies and re-booking for next year!

I'm trying not to overplan (bahahaha the evidence to the contrary) and we're now thinking we're not doing any "scheduled" excursions except Capt. Marvins so we can spend some time vegging out. It'll just be nice to put all your faces with your names and to see a "known" face once in a while on the boat.

Jan, I'm a Hoosier through and through - was born in Wabash and lived in IN for years and years. My parents were both raised in Mich. City and are headed up there in late Sept to go to my mom's 40th HS reunion. I really miss the great Midwest! Have you always lived in IN?

is it DEBBY? DEBI? DEBBIE? or another spelling?

I am a transplant. So is DH. We aren't Hoosiers--I think we are GYPSIES.

I lived in NYState for 38 years--mostly upstate--near Utica and then near Troy for college and adult life except for 2 years on Long Island.
DH lived in southern Illinois 18 years, then moved to Troy, NY for college and adult life for 18 years plus the same two on Long Island with me. College is where we met EHTPNT's DH.
Then we lived in Bethlehem, PA for 7 1/2 years and strengthened our friendship with EHTPNT (Estelle and Phil and their 3 DDs).
Now we have been in Valparaiso for nearly 8 years.

My grandmother lived in Michigan City when she was a little girl. We have cousins there still. Family name is Wright.

:) I think that we will all be great friends at the very beginning of the cruise. Comfortable friends. :)

It's Deborah, but I go by Debby which is how my mom taught me to spell it at 5 yrs old!

We are native Hoosiers as I said but we have moved over 25 times - my dad worked for Kroger and was transferred every 6 months for awhile. I went to 6 schools between K-2nd grade. But it was mainly IN, MI and KY until we hit TX.

And of all things, we (dh & I) are moving later this fall/winter. Our company is merging with another and he's been offered a job with the new company in OK (which is where he grew up). So we continue the nomadic lifestyle!

AHH--another gypsy--

Do you prefer Deborah? I can do that.

When do you go to OK?

Jan :earsgirl:

No Debby it is - I'm always trying to figure out who Deborah is when someone uses that.

We're not sure on OK. Dh's new boss is open-minded. We won't get the official offer until the merger closes (8/15 or 9/1 per the FTC) and then they'll set a date. Typically the company now gives you 60 days to sell your house with an incentive and then will buy it from you. That would be the absolute earlies of 10/31 (hmmmm) but obviously we'll be on vaction. Our goal/plan is to move the week of Thanksgiving or the week after that.

Last year we sold our previous house right before we went on a 10 day vacation to Hawaii and then had to close/move less than 2 weeks later. This will be similar most likely. Someday we need to learn to move 1ST, then take the vacation - LOL

I am looking foward to change of seasons again (I hate TX's climate) and possibly Snow! I will be doing a snow dance once we move.

came back to add: and in the midst of all this, they're supposed to be helping me find a job. I also work for the company and part of his acceptance hinged on me finding a job. I'm in an Env./Safety role now which is going to be based in Houston, but I have a good Mktg/Bus background and they're supposed to be people short up there so it looks promising. It's a mite stressful at times tho!;)

another connection!!
Tom is an Environmental Engineer. He has worked for state government and industry. He is now an independent consultant.

Keep us posted Debby, on the job situation and the possibility of a move.

And--I added an Avatar of the two of us. Reducing a photo from our niece's wedding last year in England to 50 x 50 makes it hard to see, but it's us, all duded up.

Jan :earsgirl:

Do you really thinks it going to be that hot anywhere? We are traveling the end of October.

From Weather.com:

Key West in Oct.
Average High 84°
Ave. low 75°
Mean 80°
Ave. precip. 4.40 inches

I'm guessing the other areas would be even warmer, no?

Re: leis-What a great find!! We'd like 4 for our group, if you would be so kind.
:)

Welcome, Rochelle & Stephen!! We also have birthday celebrations in our family! ds 10/29 and dd 11/2

I dont come on for a day and I have a page and a half to catch up on! I went to the Commonwealth games yesterday, it was the women's gymnastics all round finals that I went to see and on Wednesday its the atheletics. It really is amazing and with it all being held just half an hour away from where I live...

re: the leis... we''ll need 5 for our family...and I'll gladly buy you a drink in exchange. We are flying down also and i truly truly HATE to fly. Am scared to death. So i know I'll need one when we get to the Rad!!!

We haven't planned any excursion activities other then Captain Marvins. Everything else we are going to wing it. Will most likely do the trolley tour in Key West. I want the ability to get on and off at my leisure.

After hearing (on another thread) about the mad rush sat. morning getting on the shuttle, DH decided he will shuffle the kids, luggage and I over to the port then give the car back to AVIS and just get himself on the shuttle. Seems a bit easier that way.

I cant believe how close we are...getting very excited!!!!

Maureen

Welcome Rochelle and Stephen, and your DS too.
Jan I would never tell anyone you could out pester them.
Now that Jan isn't listening she could.
Trying to get to the Radisson on Friday by 4 might be a problem for us. DH is planning on spending the day at Cape Canavarel. I figured we can do 7pm.
Jan check your email I ordered the items from Oriental Trader today.
I will be bringing some candy from Just Born Inc. they make Peeps and Red Hots and Mike and Ikes. I will check with the company since they are right here to make sure there are no nuts in the process. I don't think there are but I'll be sure.
Emma sounds like you had a good time at the games. I do know what you mean though everytime I don't check the thread I come back and there is a new page.
I don't think we are going to do any scheduled things just go where the wind takes us. I do have one thing I might do in Cozumel. I have to get more information before I say anything else about it. Estelle

Howdy!!! How are all of you? I am going to jump right into the fray here to catch up with all of you!

We had a great Alpenfest! Lots of Kraut and Sausage and polka music. We did have some big name acts come in to the festival. Lindy Lou and her Lucky Four (Walmart commercial band), Emerson Drive (#4 on the country music charts "I should have been sleeping"), Willie Tyler and Lester, (numerous Love Boat appearances).....

Also, the inlaws and other extended family members were here for that week.

The Sunday they all left, we headed out in our rented camper to Oshkosh, Wis. for the EAA AirVenture Air show! It was such a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can hardly wait for next year!

We arrived home on Friday, and went right to our college reunion golf outing. Sat was a friend's wedding. And now all is quiet.

Until Saturday when DD and I fly to Houston to join my brother and sister and their families at my parents house for two weeks. We are really looking forward to it!!!

Debby, I'll be wearing my green ribbon so if you see me at West Oaks mall....just come over and say HI! :) (Are you moving somewhere???)

During the eight hour drive to Oshkosh, I put my DisCruise folder together. We picked out our excursions. DH will do the Atlantis submarine on GC and the entire fam is doing Xcaret on Coz. We will be faxing our excursions first thing on the day that we can!

And we will be dressing up for Halloween. Not Disney costumes, but our best Alpen-wear! SHould be fun. I mentioned it to D & S, but does anyone know if they are moving the formal night to another night that ISN'T Halloween so we can dress in costumes and dress in formals.

We are getting really excited about this cruise! I keep referring to the cruise list Debby made so I can keep up with ya'll! Good getting to now you through that list and these posts!!!
