I've been playing around with my new photshop software and cropping my pictures to highlight the best features. However, when I upload them to Snapfish, inevitably I get a few 4x6 pictures back where DD or DS' head is chopped off (it's not that way when I upload or in my Snapfish photo album). Since I can't see to find a place on snapfish to preview the picture as it's going to be printed, is there something I should do before I upload? The pictures are usually HUGE when I upload them, since I want to get the best quality picture possible.

Alternatively, is there a better picture printing site out there? Where I can manipulate the picture and ensure my chidren's heads will still be intact?

I haven't used snapfish but am checking out the site now. Best thing to do is to make sure the image size on you screen is 4x6 or along those lines. When looking at your photo in your album, you can hit # 4 (edit & organize) and go to 5 - fix and enhance. Hit crop and then click size crop tool in blue under apply crop button. It will give you a choice of sizes and allow you to move the cropped section around to get the best picture. Then click done editing at the bottom. Now you have your picture exactly as you want to print it. So order and you're done.

LOL - I have occassionaly had this problem also.
What I have found is that for the picture to print as you see it, you have to send it in a size that is proportional to the 4 x 6.

I don't use photoshop, but I'll describe what I do. First I hit "crop" and it asks me what size area I want. I choose a rectangle that is 4 x 6 and then generally center it over the part of the picture I want.

Now I can make that rectangle bigger or smaller as I need, but I have to keep the length and width in proportion -- so I only size by clicking and dragging on the corners of the rectangle, so both the length and width adjust at the same time.

Does that make sense?

I get all my stuff printed at www.mpix.com

great prices...they have a meatllic paper which is awesome for certain pictures they don't recomend it for portraits though.

they do give a preview of the final print, you can crop your prints on the site so you know exactly how they will look..

argh! I've spent more than 2 hours trying to crop, rotate and generally fix this picture I have of my DD. She's looking into a mirror, so I have her from the back and her reflection in the mirror. Unfortunately, the picture is landscape and there is a ton of junk in the picture I don't want. I just want a close up of her and her reflection. Any ideas? If I crop just to her reflection, it's a 7x7 picture, which obviously doesn't print well.

if you're using photoshop elements, when you're cropping, you can assign the 4x6 ratio so that you're always cropping at that ratio. In your crop bar, you should have width and height boxes. Put the 4x6 in these boxes. The crop box will always reflect a 4x6.

Thank you! That did it. I had stupidly put in 6x4, instead of 4x6. I feel much better now! :cool1:

between the height and width boxes there is a double arrow button, click on that and it changes from 4x6 to 6x4.

Just thought you'd wanna know. :)
