Calling DFTW for the first time

My DF and I were thinking about calling DFTW this week to get the ball rolling. I've heard a few different things about when Disney will start accepting calls/direct you to a consultant. I've heard that you could contact them at the 24 month mark. But I noticed today on the DFTW website that Wishes weddings (all locations) would be booked at 12 months. I thought I read (possibly in the passporter?) that if you were planning an in-park wedding that you could be booked earlier than that.

So now I'm a little confused about the timeline and want to avoid disappointment by calling too early, which I am trying to balance with a little bit of the expected impatience that comes with this sort of thing. Has anyone called recently (or just knows) and can offer any insight?

Well I was assigned a consultant at the 2 year mark..but it took a few calls and the urgency was that we were going to Disney and wanted to do a site visit with my parents. 12 months is the date you can sign a contract at all locations (in the park or not..they won't let you sign earlier than that). 16 months is when you can tentatively hold space (meaning another bride won't get your locations). Lately, they've been asking people to wait until 18 months because they are so busy. If you want to do a site visit and are within 24 months, I'd call. Otherwise, you might find it difficult to get through to a consultant until you hit 18 months.

I contacted DFTW about 17 months out. You can tentatively reserve your date at the 16 month mark, and for sure reserve it at the 12 month mark when you make a deposit. You can call them up now though and get some information and talk to someone.

All they do is take your name and some basic details and then someone rings you back so its not too expensive.

If you are hoping to go out to WDW before to have a look around and you know the date then they will try and see you early if your coming all the way from the UK.

Thanks Chilly, We are going out to WDW with my Mum and stepdad in October 2012 so hopefully we can schedule our planning session during this trip, will be only 1 month before 6 month mark.

I called yesterday and my wedding isn't until April 2013! The cm was super nice and jotted down all out information and someone will be calling us in 2-3 days.

Then before April of next year, we're going to go do a site visit, November will be the menu tasting and ordering of everything and April 2013 will be our wedding.
