Calling DFTW For The First Time-What should I expect?

They ask you several questions:

What is your 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice dates and locations?

How many people are you inviting?

Will it be formal or informal?

Buffet dinner or plated?

Will there be dancing?

Band or DJ?

Hmmm, I know I'm forgetting stuff, but that's all that comes to mind now. They will mail you an information package with current prices and options. If I think of anything else, I'll post it. Good luck!

Awesome, thanks. I did a search b/c I know this has been posted before, but nothing came up. :confused3 Those are easy questions to answer. I've only been planning for the 7 years we've been together :rotfl: However, the various date and location thing might be a tough one. Hmmm...

Nothing's set in stone - just give them your best guess. Once you start working with your sales consultant, you'll start to get a better idea of what works for you.

Great thanks!

Does anyone have the links to the other posts regarding this??? I'm too impatient to wait for the search...:surfweb:

I don't think there's much to the first phone call - it's only been 3 months and I can't recall, LOL! I just told them I wanted an Escape, and the location (which I changed a few days later) and they told me what times they had.

Then they sent me some emails with info, and the contract, which we signed and sent back via Priority Mail w/the deposit.

Hmmm...Ok. My wedding will probably be Nov 2010...This is still to be decided Finishing school, getting a real job again, saving etc. all play a role in this. My mom is pushing for sooner, but I don't know if we will have the $$$ to do it. So, I'm hoping to get the info at least at the end of this phone call...is that possible even though the wedding is so far out?

TIA

No, not for an Escape wedding. For a Wishes, you can call 1 year out. For Escape, it's 8 months out.

I called on exactly the 8 month mark. Also note that for Escape, you can only choose from times at your location that aren't already booked by Wishes brides. When I first called to book the Yacht Club Gazebo, there were several times on my day available. When I called a couple days later for Sea Breeze Pointe, only 10 a.m. was available. That worked fine for me, because our budget is really tight and it's cheaper to have a lunch reception than a dinner one.

Escape weddings at outdoor locations can be booked 12 months out.

You only have to wait til 8 months out for the Wedding Pavilion (and possible Sunset Pointe, if they're still doing construction on its rain backup location)... :thumbsup2

OK, it must be when I called they said I couldn't book and I said "it's my 8 month mark" and they must have thought I wanted the Pavilion instead of something else.

Ok so that is my first and second choice. I'd take Sunset Point if I can't have the WP...But what is SP's back up location?

Usually it's the King Kamehamehamehahahaa (OK, I don't know how to spell it :lmao: ) suite at the Polynesian, but someone on these boards mentioned that it was being rehabbed and the temporary backup location is the Wedding Pavilion. Which is great, but it means you can't book SP til 8 months out b/c the WP can't be booked til then.

So, since we are going in Feb for a day...Would it be possible to set up a visit for these sites...or is that a disney no-no? I just want to see the other locations before making a final choice. I didn't think this was going to be so difficult :rotfl:

When we were there in October, we drove over to CBR and walked around, talked to the CMs about our pool party, etc. We couldn't get into the BoardWalk since they were having a convention and there was no parking. However, if we had come in from DTD or a park on a Disney Bus, we probably would have had no problem checking out Sea Breeze Pointe.

I don't see why you couldn't take the Monorail to the Poly or the GF and look around.

I don't know how far out you are or anything but we went in June of this year to view sites and just called ahead to get information and got a coordinator who was happy to meet us and talk about things and show us all the sites we wanted to see for ceremony and reception!

Cool! I'll definately ask them about doing this when we are there in Feb. How soon did you call in advance?

You can call 18 months prior to the wedding date and they can send you information and stuff!! We called 14 months just because it fell around that time!
