I searched and I can't find anything except gift cards...... Does anyone know if the resort shops at disney sell calling cards that I can use from the hotel rooms? Only reason im asking is that my family live up north in ontario and don't have an Internet connection and can't Skype...and I don't wanna add a $20 phone plan for what may just be 2 phone calls to say we made it here ok and everything is alright lol any info is greatly appreciated thanks :)

Buy one here and bring it with you. I do it all the time when traveling to the USA. Much easier.

In the hotel's lobby ( at Values I know for sure) you have calling card distributers, but they are very expensive. I always buy one here in Maxi or Loblaws before we leave it gives me like 350 min. for 5$ Walmart also has them but not as many minutes though.

If I remember right,it's something like $8.00 minute from a Disney room.
What I do now,is let the ones at home know where we're staying and about the time we get there. They just have to call the front desk and ask to connected.Once we talk,I give them the direct phone number to the room. When I want to talk to them and call,I tell them to let the phone ring;don't pick up right away.If it stops ringing after the first ring, they call me back and I don't get charged for a call that wasn't received.
P.S.
My son-in -law learned an expensive lesson one day .I was at the pool with the grandkids and he kept calling back to Ottawa and getting a recorded message and hang up.I told him that each time he called, because it was "answered" he was going to be charged, lol.

Also the book/newspaper/sundry stores at the Orlando airport will have them. Get one before you get on the monorail to go to the main airport terminal building.

mamabear is right, I would probably just pick up a $5 President's Choice prepaid long distance card before you leave. Their website states that the toll-free access number is good for both Canada and the USA.

This!!

After buying and using them in WDW, we now use them as our long distance plan here in Canada as well. They are an excellent buy, and many times if you buy a $20.00 PC card, they will throw in an extra $5.00 worth of calling.

They seem to use that promotion for just about any holiday. I would buy a $10.00 card, call home twice a day for 3 weeks, and still have $3.00 worth of minutes left when I got home. And I had 6 months to use it up before it expired. By the way, the clock doesn't start counting down the 6 months until you use the card the first time.

If you are already in USA, have them buy the card, and phone you with what the code is. You don't have to have the card in hand to use it, just the code, so that way, they can call you for 4 cents a minute and you can call them for 4 cents a minute too till till you use up all the time on the card.

Thanks everyone I think I'll pick up the PC Card before I leave! I hate it that I keep thinking about little things that I need lol

Another options for the long-distance prepaid cards is the Vox America card. We use them on each trip, and like them because there's no surcharge to use them from the USA. If you don't pick up one of the cards mentioned here, be sure to check the fine print to ensure that the card you select doesn't add the surcharge for calls originating from the States.
