Calling All Teachers

We are leaving soon for our disney vacation and I have a question. I talked to another teacher about writing off expenses if I had some educational stops planned on this trip. I had planned on visiting a couple of science exibits on the way up. Does any one know if Disney World has a teachers resource area.

EPCOT used to have a teacher resource center, but it no longer exists.

I am not saying that you can write off your entire trip. I am also not saying that you do not hae to make educational stops. There are several science exibits along the way and how about nasa.

I would guess that you could only write off the expenses directly related to the science stops. It seems to me that there are some teacher materials that align with some of the exhibits at Epcot, but I am not sure who you have to contact to get them. You might try contacting Disney from their website, and hope for a prompt reply.

I guess we will be there the same time. Are you expecting big crouds. We usually go a week earlier. School is just letting out a little late here.

There is a very good science center in Orlando that you might visit. And of course, Cape Canaveral is just down the road. And Sea World used to have lots of info along the Marine Biology line that you could get.

Contact Youth Education Services (YES) at Disney and see if they have any material for Teachers available there. Stretch the truth a tad and say you are thinking of bringing a group there and doing some of their programs (my fav is the Physics is Fun one!) and see what they can give you. Then you could say you were scouting the area and laying the groundwork for a class trip to Disney.

I don't know if you could legally claim your trip this way, but it at least you would have ammo for the IRS guy!
