Calling All Seniors!

Well what are the rules to be a senior? Different communities have different ages for seniors. I’m young (I think 😊) but my kids are grown, my DH and I don’t have the same interest as others are age that are still raising their families. The people we hang out with in real life are 10+ years older than us. At church my DH is old enough to be in the senior lunch bunch and I’m young enough to be in moms of kids group - even though we are only a year apart in age.

No rules I guess. I think most people know when they are getting a bit older and things change. Could be at different ages. Everyone is different. I guess if it was to be about discounts or benefits, age could matter.

I can walk all day but worried about my knees and hips getting on and off rides. DH can walk but eventually has back pain. We are both over 65 but to be honest, I keep forgetting about that. My parents seemed so much older at 55.

I'm sure we can all help each other with tips or ideas about how to get to the parks and enjoy them!

Wow, and only a year apart in age.

But yes, you have a point. Of course some people are maybe 50ish but because of physically issues, some tips/comments aim toward a 70 year old may still apply.

Yes! The ailments my DH has puts him in with tips needed for those in older travel groups. Tips that I don’t think would necessarily come from the disability board.

I just happened to click on a thread and ended up here. I'm 62 but am an active 'senior' who also loves Universal and roller coasters! DH is 70 and not as much of a theme park fan; when we go to DW together we do a much slower laid back trip.

I saw the banner, then Dan's post so I 'hobbled' on over here.
I'm 73 & can still open & close the parks. (on the same day, lol)
My two daughters will be aged 50 & 55 next year so I'm gonna call them seniors.
We've done the last couple trips just us 3 but still do larger family trips also.
My youngest daughter's boss asked her before we went on the last trip how old I was & realized I was same age as her mother who she couldn't imagine riding coasters & walking that much.
Last trip I did take it a bit slower but still kept up.

Yep! My husband is in his early 60's but I joke that I feel like I'm living with a 90 year old at times due to his health. We will be going to Disney next year and due to all the walking, he will have to be in a wheelchair and won't be doing full days at the park. I have been gravitating toward all things Disney for those older not only for him but for me too. I also take things slower but it all depends on who I'm with (my mom has always been able to outdo me! We took her 12 years ago when she was 70 and I was definitely the slower one!).

I can open and close parks too , as long as I get a three hour nap in between. 😂

i saw the splash across the top of the screen while checking out my regular forums and decided to take a peek. Glad I did! "Old people's day" at the drug store is a thing in our house, as in, if we know we'll need something but it's not urgent it will wait until either Tuesday for one chain and Thursday for the other. I proudly announce to the cashier that I'm old enough to get the discount.

we're both in our early 60's but some days the body screams "you're 90" hubby can't walk for more than an hour a day so he uses a transport device (that's how he refers to it after the CMs in Rise commented on his customized license plate). There are days when my hips or knees decide that stairs are not an option. We've both reached the point where a full meal is just too much food.

I'm here to join in the party , so long as I can be in bed before 10 🤣

Just noticed this forum, put it on my watch list. Saw a banner link on the CB.
Hey Dan !! It’s Linda formerly known as figmentvi. Hope you are doing well.

I just noticed the new forum as well. Seniors Unite !! 😁

Next June will be my 70th birthday and will be celebrating with THREE family trips to WDW. We wanted to do just one family reunion, but my family has grown so much that it wasn’t feasible. So we’re splitting it up into three trips. Believe it or not, Holly will also be celebrating a big birthday, her 50th.

As you may remember, I moved from the Virgin Islands to Asheville, NC. Needless to say it’s been a pretty tough past month and a half. The destruction here has been horrendous. It has been a stark reminder that NOTHING is more important than family and that time spent with family is precious. ❤️❤️
