I am booking June and I have my choice of OKW and SS. I have stayed at SS and liked it very much (except buses) and was wondering a few things...
- Is there a building that is near the food and main building I can request?
- Is there a quick breakfast area for bagels and kids breakfast?
- How are the buses from here?

Please sell me I get nervous about new things and this resort is new for me!!!

OKW is much more relaxing then SS.

You'll love OKW! It has such a beautiful, tropical atmosphere. We stayed near the Hospitality House in Sept. (make this request) and it is near both Olivia's (full service restaurant, great for b'fast) and Goods to Go. I can't totally remember what Goods had for b'fast, but I think they had bagels, muffins, etc. We loved our location in building 24. We took the buses a few times by walking to the main building and all of them were very fast.

OKW rooms are huge and if you get a 1 bedroom you will have gigantic balcony that you can eat breakfast on!

Here is the OKW map.

Request near Hospitality House if you want to walk to the restaurant etc. It really doesn't matter where you stay though, because every building is steps away from a bus stop, and all buses stop at HH last before leaving the resort.

Bus service is fantastic at OKW. We rarely wait more than a few minutes for buses, and there are 5 bus stops within the resort.

If you are staying in a 1,2, or 3 bedroom unit, the master bath will blow you away! We also love the full sized laundry room. There are 3 neighborhood pools and one main themed pool. I actually prefer the neighborhood pools for the more private spas. The master bath Jacuzzi tub is huge!

Olivia's is a nice place to sit outside on the patio and eat your breakfast. And it's not that bad sitting inside the restaurant.

If you eat at Good's to Go, they have picnic tables on the boardwalk area by the boat dock where you can eat. They don't have that big of a selection.

Or you can get something from the store - cereal, bread, bagels (toast them in your room), coffeecake, etc.

Buses at OKW are very good. Five bus stops in this order - Peninsular Rd, South Point, Turtle Pond, Miller's Road and Hospitality House. The Internal Bus (also the DTD bus) also stops at the HH first and again before leaving the resort.

I listened to Diane go on for years before I tried OKW and understood why she was raving! :teeth: then I had to buy for myself!

Really, any area is great - even the far corners are very comfortable. I like walking from OKW to DTD. A few times we did drive to the HH to eat at Olivia's, but it was on our way 'out' to drive to a park, etc. Otherwise we walked and it was a nice walk......

Thanks for the maps, I was looking all over for one. I think I am sold , but I will request near HH at least the first time until I get use to the layout. I love all the comments, keep them coming!!! You guys are great  !!

Love OKW
We have been fortunate enough the last 2 trips to be in Bldg 14.
Absolutely a great location for us. Its close to the HH, pool and bus stop. With our 3 little ones it was nice to get off the bus and just walk across the street. It also sits back a little so its very quiet. Our balcony had a great view of the golf course, pond and the duckies.

I dont think we've ever waited more than 20 minutes at the most for a bus.

I'm sure whatever you end up with will be great!

Enjoy!

Unless you are staying in a studio and just have to have a full cooked breakfast, I would not even think about GOING anywhere for breakfast (unless it is a character breakfast or something special in a park or resort for one day). Breakfast in your room/villa not only saves time but can also save big bucks and is a nice way to not have to meet a deadline first thing in the a.m. We always pick up pastries at the counter service place in Norway at EPCOT and enjoy those in our villa the next morning (if they last past that night!!!)

We own DVC points at BW and OKW but I WAAAAAY prefer staying at OKW. Even when we were "stuck" at the back of the resort as far as we could possibly have been from main food/pool area, it was only about a 5 minute walk to get to the main pool and the gift shop. etc. I do ask for top floor for better views from porch and less overhead noise...stairs are not a problem for us.

Have fun!
