We will be staying at OKW for the first time next trip, our home resort is BWV. It took a lot of persuading to get my husband to agree to this, so now I have to make sure the trip is a success!!!!! Please could you help me make the best decision about room location....I've heard that building 11 is not good.....so only another 60 or so to count out! ha! ha!

We would like a quiet location, not too much traffic noise, non smoking, with a nice view. We're not too bothered about being close to the main pool if it meant forgoing the other requirements!! Has anyone stayed in the newer buildings? How do they compare?

Finally, which floor do you prefer? Patio or balcony?

Thanks!!!!

Building 18, 3rd floor. It's non-smoking, near a quiet pool, and not too far from the main area. I like the 3rd floor because you don't hear the pitter patter of little feet from the floor above you.

OKW is my home resort, but BWV is my favorite resort.

Enjoy!

We usually request bldg 14, top floor, non -smoking. If you don't mind going up 2 flights of stairs, 3rd floor is the best. But we were at OKW 2 weeks ago (made ressies 2 months out) and we were in building 20 top floor. It had a very nice view of the water, fountain, golf course, and you could see the HH area. Also the quiet pool was only a 2 minute walk away. There was a bus turn around in front of our building. If you don't have a car, the Miller Rd bus stop is very close (3 minute walk) .
A map of OKW is below........

I'd recommend against being too specific with requests as it limits the resort's ability to fill them all.

Pick a view you'd enjoy (water, golf course or woods) and upper or lower floor or a range of buildings (23-27, 16-19, etc) and you'll generally have a better chance for success.

Incidentally, we have a great map of OKW right on this site. No need to go traipsing all over the internet when everything you need is right here! ;)

We've stayed nine times, in nine different buildings. Bldg 15 was somewhat close to a main road and you could hear traffic, fairly loud at times, while on the patio.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I felt bldg 51 didn't have quite enough parking.

That is my entire list of complaints about OKW bldg locations. We don't even request locations.

I don't think there are any patios, just balconys. I never saw any in my years there. At any rate you should have a overview of the OKW from your packet from guest services that you get as a member. When making a choice of rooms you want I would first make what is important to you like non smoking or whatever.

There are porches off the first floor villas.

I don't like the woodsy views, myself; I feel very confined and closed in with the trees right up against the porch. I also don't like lugging a heavy stroller and a tired child after a long day at the parks up those stairs, so I would rather stay on the first floor and put up with foot steps above me.

One of my favorite buildings has been building 45. The porch overlooks the waterway to Downtown Disney and it is lovely. It is close to one of the pools, but it is a walk to the bus stop compared to other buildings in the South Pointe area.

All rooms at OKW have a porch not just the first floor. The studios have a very small porch others are a good size. At any rate there are no patios that I have ever seen.

I think it's just terminology but mean basically the same thing - porch, patio, balcony. People think of first floor porches as patios because they are on ground level where balconies are usually thought of as elevated. Although I usually think of a patio as not enclosed and would probably call it a porch at OKW. Regardless, all OKW rooms have one and they are the same on each floor.

All of the rooms have the same type of porch, it's just that some of them are close to the ground (first floor) and some of them are up in the air (the balconies on 2nd floor and above).
This picture from ncligs's post shows the porch/balconies really well.

Building 55 is at the end of a culdasac with a nice water veiw, no traffic next to a small pool with hot tub,but any place is nice. Have no fear!

:D We stayed in bldg 53 on the 1st flr in a 1bdrm unit the only request I had was non smoking - We changed our ressies 3 days prior to checkin from VB to OKW we were happy to just get a unit - But it was wonderful close to a bus stop and close to a quiet pool - We loved OKW SOOO MUCH we are now looking into purchasing 150 pts at OKW - I don't think you can have a bad unit/time at OKW:D

I have to agree with the others....There really aren't any BAD locations at OKW. We used to always take our chances too, but because we like the solitude of the South Point area, we usually ask for Non-smoking in buildings 53,54,55 with no other preferences. We ALWAYS have gotten our requests. The key is to make your requests at the same time you make your reservation, and be as general as you can.

I don't like building 20, part of 21, 40, 51 and 52 - because the bus turn around here.

but Doc is right you need to request your view, then I request near a bus stop and a quiet pool - you can request what you want - I don't like near the HH too many cars for my taste - but everyone has different opinions.

We drive to WDW every year, so we request a unit that has parking. The ones at the end of Miller Road don't. But like to be between the HH and Pennisula road bus stop. Get the first bus stop in the am and if you miss a bus , it is an easy walk to HH. At night first stop.
