Whether you were married at SOG, S&D, or had a DFTW;

Did/are you add military elements to your wedding? If so what were/are they?
Did/is your groom wearing his uniform? Did you feel like your dress overpowered his uniform?

Anyone willing to share their pictures? I'm just trying to get a feel for what to expect.

Only 3 months to go :banana: Which means about 2 months left of deployemnt!:woohoo:

My husband wore his Navy Dress Blues. No regrets. I do not feel like my dress overshadowed his uniform. I have been to many Navy weddings where the groom wore their uniform...Proud and classy I say. My husbands best man was not in the military and did wear a suit. It all came together great. The only other military element I have seen at a wedding is the grooms cake...many different ones.
Congrats and good luck.

My husband did not wear his uniform. He doesn't fit in it anymore! He had been out of the service for 2 years by the time we got married, so he had mixed feelings about wearing it even if it did fit.

We did have custom dog tags as our favors and our guests really liked them. I got them from an online wholesaler, and we had the following printed on them:

And They Lived Happily
Ever After

We used ribbon to make them into necklaces rather than the usual chain because it was less expensive and it made them look more wedding-y.

I also had a surprise Groom's Cake that incorporated the Army and our cats. I designed it with my planner and one of the GF Chefs, as we had our rehearsal at Citricos. We had cammo fondant with sugar dog tags with our cats names on them. We had a chocolate screen topping that had each of our cats faces with little Army touches. Everyone loved it.

Here's a pic of me and DH from our wedding in 1986. Yeah, I know, it's old, but I don't think the uniforms have changed much. DH was in the Marines and wore his dress blues.

We were married at Shades of Green, and I have oddles of photos in my 2010 trip report, starting around page 16 :) I don't think my dress overshadowed his uniform. I think the Class As give such timeless photos, which is exactly what we wanted.

WDWDREAMING - I love your photo :)
