I know I have read on the DIS boards that sugar loaf has lodge tower rooms. We have booked a standard lodge tower room for December. We want to stay in a lodge tower room.

What are my chances when we check in to pay for an upgrade to sugar loaf lodge tower room. It appears that for our 7-night stay it would only be an extra $210.

Any opinions or commments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you want Sugar Loaf, I'd book it now b/c there are only a handful of lodge tower rooms in each building. Don't count on one being available in Sugar Loaf unless you book it.

If you want to stay in a SL lodge tower room, you have to book a SL room and REQUEST a tower room in that building. Request it with CRO when you make your reservation and then again when the concierge planner contacts you.

The lodge tower rooms in SL are by REQUEST only and not guarenteed like the lodge tower rooms in the other buildings are.

If I read the question correctly, the OP's order or preference is tower room for sure, but would like SL (would take a tower room in Conch over a regular room in SL). So when checking in with the tower room reserved (in one of the other lodge buildings), ask the CM checking you in if there are any tower rooms available in SL instead and state that you're willing to pay the price difference.

I think there may be only 6 tower rooms in SL, so the odds of the tower room in SL being available isn't very high. But the earlier you check in and ask, the greater the chance you might get lucky. As the others have posted, tower rooms in SL are available by request only. So if you're checking in early and a tower room is either open or a guest is leaving that day, you might be able to snag the SL tower room (assuming SL isn't sold out in general).

::yes:: Completely agree with Snurk71. If the lodge tower room is your priority, keep what you have and ask at check-in about availability and an upgrade. These style rooms are only requests at SL and not guaranteed. By upgrading to concierge after you check-in, you'll be missing out on the pre-planning assistance, but you'll still have the lounge and daily on site CM's to help you if you need it.

There are only 3 Lodge Tower rooms in Sugar Loaf. They face the pool area. There is not a room on first floor as that area is a service area. There are rooms on 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. The 4th floor room does not have a balcony. We were in 6320 on the 3rd floor in April. Beautiful room!! I had put a request for this room when I booked our reservation. Quite surprised that we got it. They were aware that we were celebrating our anniversary and also renewing our vows, so it was very nice.
And, by the way, this particular room sleeps at least 5, maybe 6. We had 2 queens and a double sleep sofa. I can't speak for the other 2 rooms as I don't know if they have the same set-up. We had plenty of room for the 5 of us. We even had a crib for the little one. If it was just the 2 of us, I would not have needed the extra room.

Kerri, thanks for this information. I wonder if this set up is true for all 3 lodge tower rooms in SugarLoaf. I know the ones in the outer buildings only sleep 4 and the sofa does not open up. Good information to have.

Tammi,
Yes, it was a nice surprise that the room had a pull-out...I know I had posted the question of occupancy in the Tower rooms when we added our foster child to the reservation and most thought it fit only 4 max. I thought we were out of luck... :confused3 But when we checked in with the Concierge, they confirmed that yes we were in a Tower but no sorry it did not have a balcony. But when we entered the room...surprise :cool1: It did, in fact, have a nice balcony. The Concierge agent did not have a clue! Our stay there was great. Other than the wrong info about the balcony and the fact that they could not find in the computer where we paid in full(took a minute but they finally found it)the Concierge staff were very helpful. We needed some last minute child care and they arranged that. They also sent us a wonderful white chocolate Minnie and chocolate covered strawberry presentation for our anniversary, which fell right on the date of our vow renewal. Also got some towel creations and a Magical Moments certificate with the autographed post card. :flower:
Lots and lots of pixie dust this trip which was wonderful, although not expected!!
I should have inquired as to the occupancy of the 2 other Tower rooms, but was afraid of getting incorrect info from the concierge staff ;) If I had spotted housekeeping I probably would have asked.

Tammi & KerriL- I stayed in the tower room in SL on the 4th floor last February and it only had the two queens & a regular small sofa in the octagon area. This room only slept 4, but they brought in a rollaway for our 3rd child. This room did not have a balcony.

I am staying SL again in August (no husband this trip) with my 3 kids and requested a tower room - and Kerri, thanks to your info I actually reqested the room number you shared as I have 2 little girls and a teenage son. If #6320 does have a sofa bed that would work out just great for our sleeping arrangements. I'm not thrilled with the rollaway/aero as there really isn't a whole lotta room for them.

Interesting info on 6320. Was the sleep sofa in the octagon area? Are you sure it was a sleeper sofa? We had the little sofa, but it didn't open up.

Thanks for the info -

Lives4Disney,
It was most certainly a double sofa bed in the octogon area as my 15 year old son slept on it everynight. My 14 year old daughter took 1 queen and my husband and I the other. The little one slept in a full size(not Pack N' Play) crib. We also had a stroller and car seat too and there was plenty of room for all of us to move around.
I am also certain of the room number because I have a habit(tradition) of snapping a pic of the door and room numbers  everywhere we stay. Comes in handy when I need to know info about a room I stayed in for future stays. And thanks to you too for the info about the 4th floor Tower room...no balcony and no sleep sofa. Good to know.
Kerri

KerriL - Thanks for the info! In our 4th floor room, the sofa area had a coffee table in front of it, a tv in a small armoir, and a little table w/2 chairs. Was your room like that?? Did you move the furniture around so the sofa could have room to open?? Just wondering - we had trouble fitting the rollaway in our room. Where were the sliding doors and balcony? Just trying to picture this.....
I know a tower room is larger than a standard, but it had a lot of furniture in it and was pretty full!

That specific room would be perfect for us too. My 15 yr old would get that sofa bed and my girls and I would take the queens.

Thanks so much for answering my questions. I wonder if the other tower room also has the fold out couch. I don't know why in Feb. they gave us - a family of 5 - the one that sleeps 4.

Lives4Disney,
Yes, we had a little coffee table in front of the pull-out..just moved it to the side. The door to the balcony was right next to the small tv armoire in the octagon area. It was a single French door to the balcony, not a slider. Balcony was a pretty good size. There was also a small table and 2 chairs in the octagon are too.

KerriL,

I have my heart set on a tower room exactly like the one you stayed in. I'll be celebrating my anniversary too. The SL concierge was just an added extra touch to the anniversary. Should I forget about the concierge? It sounds as though my odds of getting a tower room with SL concierge look pretty slim. How many months in advance did you book your room? ::MickeyMo

I reserved a room in SL and the agent "booked" me a tower room at my request. Is this correct, or is the tower by request only and not guaranteed??

Let me know if you get it. Tammi PM'd me this info, and I emailed the IPO staff and requested room 6320. It would be great for us too! I'm hoping they get us this room in December!

SamanthaR,
The only reason I requested the Tower was that we were traveling with the five of us...had it been just my husband and I, I would have been happy in any other room. In fact, I actually prefer the top floors that have the dormers, more romantic. But I know for certain that those rooms only sleep 4. I don't know what your chances are in requesting that particular room ...but good luck!! :flower:
We really wanted the Tower for it's extra space. The fact that our room had a pull-out sleep sofa was just gravy!!
Tonyspad,
Well, I would check again with your agent because the Tower rooms in SL are not a separate category that can be booked. It is on a guarantee only. In all other buildings you can book a Tower room...it is it's own category and you pay extra for it.
Kerri

I just emailed GF IPO about requesting that room (6320). They said it would only accommodate 4 and that the sofa did not pull out. Should I forget about it for now, and just ask when we check in?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks KerriL for the reply. I figured we won't be in our room that much so we won't make much use of the SL concierge. We'll plan and get the SL concierge on another trip because I'm in favor of getting the tower room over the concierge.

TRIPLEFIGS - This is interesting info, but now I am bummed!!! I emailed them Friday regarding this room number and requested it for our August trip. I didn't hear back from them at all. This sounds like it is the same type of tower room we had in SL in February. Now I don't think I want it!! :earboy2: It was nice, but I need the 3 beds - 2 beds and a daybed.

Now I also wonder why they didn't email ME back.

They are probably getting all kinds of crazy requests for this specific room and wondering what is going on!!

Happy planning -

I had to email them TWICE to get a response. I just heard back from Heather (she didn't sign her name but I requested a read receipt and it's from her email). I told her to just request our original room instead (Marina, non-smoking, 4th floor). Let me know what you hear. She's working now, if you want to try again.
