Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 2

On Monday I shipped a box of goodies to DCL for our stateroom. I checked the tracking on the package and it said it got delivered today (which is what I was told would be the date).

So if anyone wants to ship items ahead of time rather than put it in their checked-in luggage there is still some time.

Now I know this can be an expensive way of shipping bottles and other heavy stuff but at least you can still bring it along.

How do you do that? What is the address? Thanks,

As far as the insulin... how is it not PRESCRIBED?? how do you get it with out a prescription??

Insulin type is directed by the doc, and it is covered by insurance deductible, but it is not a prescription. Anyone can go into a pharmacy, ask for a bottle of insulin and a pack of syringes, and pay cash for them. The same with test strips for a blood glucose meter. I think I'll look for some piece of medical paperwork that says diabetic on it just to be safe. We always like to take a 2nd supply onboard in case luggage gets lost.

I popped into a wine store today and they had these form fitted styrofoam holders for wine bottles (or other bottles  ). I decided I can wrap the styrofoam thingy in plastic zipper bags and check it inside a smaller suitcase. also, I have a built in souvenir suitcase! So my wine tasting is back on....date and time to be announced.

Off to shopping! Still need slacks for the boys, dress for me, bonine, etc, etc, etc.... :faint:

I just have to get through this weekend of school & any homework the professor throws at us...& then I am smooooooooth sailing! I should really finish packing though!

Personally, if I can't carry my laptop or digital camera with me on the plane, they will be left behind at home. I would never pack anything of great value into checked luggage.

We are flying out on jetblue on monday and really dont want to put our laptop into checked luggage. Do you think this will be mandatory? I am afraid it will disappear but I really need it the 12 days we are in Florida and Mexcio.

This is the link to the Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel. I didn't purchase, but I did enter our date and there seemed to be availabiity. I would like to go ahead and book ASAP. Last time, we did the Dolphin Experience thru DCL. I wasn't aware a the time that they also had a dolphin swim. I tried to change tot he SWIM, but it was booked. I think the swim on our own costs less that the experience thru DCL.
Jeff? Catherine? Anyone else interested? I'm thinking of booking Chelsea for the Swim at noon. Not the Royal Swim (dounds a bit fast), but the Swim Adventure. (On the other hand, maybe I should go for the 10:00 swim, and leave the baby in Flounders....will have to check Flounders' hours that day....)

I think that's what concerns me about putting certain things in my bags that we check. Since they are no longer locked, what are the chances they will still in one piece and the same spot when we get to MCO? I was given a portable DVD player this year. It has made the plane rides so much nicer.

I'll guess I'll keep reading........

nite all..................

BTW......I finally got my docs    We used a travel agent in FL. The docs went there. For some reason nobody caught the fact I wasn't in the neighborhhod to pick them up. So they sat there for over a week. Errors happen. Good thing I knew to call. All better now.....Does this make me the last person to get my docs?

ANDREW derek.. I too thought of you the first thing this AM.... now let me get this straight.. you guys can still bring your CAMERAS.. but not as carry ons?? so why not check them in???

As far as the insulin... how is it not PRESCRIBED?? how do you get it with out a prescription??
you have to have the ticketed persons name on the medicine in order to take it on the plan.

DOREEN

Thank you everyone for your wishes and I also hope you all have safe and quick trips, Cameras into the hold in your luggage, not hand luggage Medicine must have prescriptions from doctors particularly Liquid form

I'm bringing about 12 hours worth of blank tape but you may want to bring a few blank cassettes in case I go hog wild at WDW the week before the cruise.

The only problem may be that my camcorder will record in NTSC and you likely have PAL equipment back home. A technological solution will be needed. Still, I'd rather you have some video and have to find a way to view it than have no video at all! :guilty:

Tony,

You're a gem! I might take you up on that! One less thing to worry about!!

Ditto that for me. Please feel free to ask me if you need anything recorded or pictures taken! My video camera is just ok, but does great outdoors. I just got a new digital camera in the mail today. :yay: Very excited to start playing with it - it's supposed to have a special setting for fireworks. Anyway, I'll have two quality digitals and one so so I was going to let the kids take around. It's fine for viewing pics on a slideshow, not so good for developing, so I don't care too much about it. On that subject, does anyone know about rules for kids taking cameras into the kids club?

I plan on bringing a capture device so I can load my pictures and video on my laptop. Any files can be emailed so no worries about format (I think). You just need some simple software to burn the video file to VCD or DVD.

Thanks Becky too!

Much better today.. when you put it all into perspective it is only a blip in the scheme of things.... an annoying blip all the same, but a blip none the less....

Looks like you are getting some sleep! :rotfl:
