Called AA to get credit for my fare that dropped....

So I had booked last week since I was getting nervous, and thought 175 R/T was a good deal (This is for an AM departure from LGA on 10/20 and a PM arrival back at LGA on 10/24).

Today, with all of Song and JetBlue's prices dropping, I guess American had to follow as well, and I noticed that my flight went down about 12/13 dollars a person. So I called to get a credit and the woman (who really wasn't that friendly... just my 2 cents ;) ) somehow didn't see what I saw, but after awhile and a long time on hold did. So then she went to fix my reservation and came back and told me she found a better rate (I guess around 115 per person) so I am getting two $60 vouchers!

I would have loved $120 back to my credit card, but this will do...

However, I don't see this rate anywhere on the website, and was worried that I didn't get any sort of confirmation number. She said it was not necessary and that I should get the vouchers in 2-3 weeks.

Hopefully everything goes well, and hopefully this rate will be available for anyone else looking for October flights.... thanks for letting me share.

I bought tickets on Jetblue several months ago for about 79 each way, now I see they are 49 each way (from Boston)
Can I call them, and they might give me credit?

I just called Jetblue and they gave me a $108 credit for my next flight!
Thanks for the info!

I guess I will have to keep watching the AA site and checking prices. We just booked 5 tickets with them today for $178. If I see it go down, I guess I will call. I am coming from DFW, and this is a pretty good rate. It was $152 over the holiday weekend. Too bad my flight dates were not available then.

Did you book online or over the phone?

**You know, when I called this morning to book my tickets, the guy I spoke to was not very nice either. He even tried to tell me that I could not book my flight because it is too far out. I said, "Yes you can, check your computer. I am calling 331 days before my return date and you sure can book it." He acted like he never said he couldn't and just went on. I thought, well at least apologize and don't get snippy with me buddy, you were the one was wrong. :snooty:

I booked online, but fixed things over the phone.

Ya, the first "gentleman" I talked to said my flight was over $500, and I was like suuuure buddy! Then I was told my flight was full, which it certainly wasn't since I was looking at the seating plan which was like 75% empty.

I would have preferred to use JetBlue or Song, but I got nervous and liked the AA times (and not having to go to JFK) was a big plus.
