Call your Credit Card companies before your cruise.

Ours was flagged during one of our cruises. We didn't know they would let us call from GS and weren't about to use our cell phones on board so we just used a different card on the ship and figured we would call and have it taken care of once the cruise was over. What we didn't immediately realize at the time is that this 4 day period when the card was flagged just happened to be at the beginning of the month when most of the bills we have on auto-pay are usually charged, which means they were all declined. So we called our CC company as soon as we got back to the U.S. and got the flag lifted but then had to re-setup all of our auto-pays. We wasted half a day at WDW cleaning up that mess. :furious:

We do this online with the card or cards we use. If you have your account online it's easy to do. No hassles and no wait online. Juat put in countries and dates away.

This is what we always did too. Our recent trip was no different, I logged into master card and I wanted to set up the travel alert. A message popped up saying this is no longer required due to some enhanced security measures MC has. :confused3

American Express doesn't want you to tell them you are traveling either, haven't for some time, years. I have to deal with them at work a lot and they will tell you that they have sophisticated security systems. I wonder what credit cards people are doing this on.

Master Card is really a lot of different banks, so your experiences may be different, but in my case it was Master Card and Discover. After our cards were put on hold, they both told us that pre-notification was a very good idea.

I didn't even think what might have happened to my automatic payments! I dodged a bullet on that one I guess! However, most of my automatic payments are through my online banking, not my cc. Too many experiences with changed CC numbers have gotten me out of the habit of making many automatic payments with my Credit Cards. Every time they send you a new card number, you have to contact all those vendors and give them the new numbers. So I do it that way as rarely as possible.
