Call from Hotel Kingdom

Hello mytoy and welcome to the DIS!

I am staying there in April and I'm going with confidence that everything will be fine. It was a one time thing on an extremely busy vacation week and have been assured from HK that us as customers of theirs staying at the V.V. will be accommodated as expected without a problem. HK has taken this matter up with the V.V. mgmt directly.

Stick with your plans, I'm sure everything will be fine. :)

Lorix2 and Sandyneck,

I am anxiously waiting to hear your experiences, as we will be at VV in June. I am concerned about the recent reports, and plan to do some research into other options so that I am prepared, just in case.

We did receive a message this week from Hotel Kingdom. They said they were reviewing ressies at VV and all seemed fine w/ ours. They then went on to say they had a special deal going on where we could get $100 and to please call back to find out more. From reading these boards, I know that is the time-share deal that we are not interested in, so I did not call back. Now I am wondering if we should call back just to verify that all is OK w/ our ressie and to express concern about the recent problems.

BusyMomof3 -

I'm sure things will be fine..especially since the V.V. and HK are very aware of that ONE time problem. THere are 15 or more positive experiences vs this one recently. In fact this is the only problem with the V.V. I could find in over a year on these boards and you know this is where you'll get info good and bad. Of course it won't hurt to reconfirm directly with V.V. as the time is getting closer for your peace of mind. You've booked, deposited, now what else can you do? Don't let this spoil your vacation planning, please, I know how you feel. I've been assured by the asst to the President of HK, that HK has done everything they can to assure this will not happen again.

As far as the $100. rebate goes, I hear it's painless really and if you bring your kids along, it can only help speed things up. If you have the breakfast provided by them then tour the resort, in under 2 hours you've earned $100 cash in your hand....I might consider it if we have the time.

Deep breathe everyone~:D

I hope this helps ease your worries a bit :)

Lori

P.S. Me again..just FYI to anyone who's not aware..the time-share presentation/$100. rebate is voluntary not mandatory in order to book there.

Sandyneck, Lorix2, anyone with ressies at VV- Just a thought, do you think aggreeing to see the timeshare presentation would decrease your chances of being bumped if they are overbooked????? Like I said just a thought. Your chances of not getting a room I'm sure is already quite low. What do you guys think??

Rolo - that thought crossed my mind, but I just don't think so, we're obviously interested and staying there would be the determining factor if I were out to buy into the property, not just a presentation...that's how I look at it.

Let's not let this start a wide-"thread" panic :) Get it? LOL!

Wide thread panic. HA HA! I wondered the same thing about the time share presentation. I am not really worried though. I did decide to look into a few backups on Hotel Kingdom's web site. My first choice would also be the Vistana Resort. Maybe Sunterra Cypress Point or Westgate Villas. I am sure we won't need them though. I just remembered that in the hotel I worked at we would make a notation in the reservation on our computer system if a person called the day of their arrival to say that they were on their way. If we knew we had 8 rooms left and 10 reservations we would make sure to have a room key set aside for the person who called. That was them, though. It sounds like Vistana Villages has not had this problem often, or they might just be saying that. I do believe that intenionally overbooking was illegal, if not they still kept it quiet. I would have a backup in mind and not worry about it.

Rolo, I am very surprised that they would tell you they were booked for the whole week. You would think they would do their best to make it up to you and keep your business. The Marriott I worked at was very good about customer service.

I also think that this was just a very bad weekend for them. I am checking in on a Wednesday, maybe that will help!
