**UPDATE*** (I don't know how to add update in my title???)
I had the follow up mammogram and ultrasound this morning.
The left breast where they saw 2 round dense areas are just fine! They are very small fluid filled cysts.
The right side where the calcifications were they want to do a biopsy. I go back Dec. 31st for the 2 hour procedure and should get results the week after that.
Another 2 weeks of wondering and worrying I guess
worry is the hardest part. I had a biopsy for calcification. I was told mine would take an hour. not sure how long it lasted but i wasnt keeping track -lol! After i had to have a mamo to make sure the markers they put in were in the right spot. You will be fine.
I have question for you ladies. I have a mamorgram scheduled for Christmas Eve (their schedule was wide open; can't imagine why

) I have not had one since I was forty (five years ago). I decided to schedule it because I recieved a reminder card in the mail. I am curious about all the responses here about fluid filled sacks and calcification. Did you all feel these things during a self examination or did you feel nothing and these were simply preventative visits??
Prayers for you Snowflakey!!
I asked if I should have felt the calcification and I was told no. It's like a grain of salt or sand
My biopsy is going to be a 2 hour appointment. They said most of the time is getting me adjusted to be in the right position. Then they will numb the area and insert a needle. Mine is a core biopsy which means they are taking tissue samples not cell samples. They said the time to remove the tissue is only about 2 minutes. Then they will give me an ice pack to put in my bra and I will have to continue to ice it that evening. I will also bruise. They said it takes between 3-5 business days to get the results.
I can update you all after it is done on Dec. 31st.
Thanks again for all your prayers!
I get my results the day you have your biopsy. I also had the core biopsy. It wasnt as bad as I thought. They had me lay on my stomach on a special table. It had a hole in the center where I put the breast that was going to get biopsied. First they positioned me then pulled the breast through(it didnt hurt), Then once the breast is pulled through it holds it closes a lil to hold breast in place(a lil uncomfortable but not as bad as mamo squeezing. They had me hold/breath and hold still when they took picture/xray. then they numbed area just a tiny lil pinch(not bad) then they waited a few min, then did the biopsy and i didnt feel it(8-10 samples were taken). They walked me through what they were doing but i didnt really care cause my mind was meditating. I'm a bigger person and most weight is in my belly, I was able to get through it and If i had to get one done again I'd be ok.
after the biopsy i had to get a quick mammo and i thought they were crazy but i went through with it. It was 1-2 pics and it was ok. Dh took me to
walmart right after to get ice pack. I found one that had several lil squares that you can cut down. Before i found that i couldnt find one small enough to fit in my bra and the WW worker suggested i put ice in a ziploc and put it in a sock. I ended up using both methods because i had to wait for the ice squares to freeze.
One thing i wish they had told me before the biopsy was....what i would need afterwards( that way i could have bought everything ahead of time and just went home after biopsy)
nurse told me after my biopsy..
- to wear a sport bra to hold my breast snug and so it can hold ice pack
-that i would need ice pack
-tylenol for pain or soreness
I used my regular bra and I decided I didnt want pain meds(really didnt need any). I was fine with icing it. I was told to ice it 6-8 hours(every 30 min)
i was a lil sore the next day but not bad, i think it was the bandage was tight.
I was told no cleaning, vaccuming or heavy lifting for 48 hours and I took advantage of it.
You will be fine. looking back the hardest and scariest part was waiting. I will keep you in my prayers.
btw- for me I wore comfty jeans and only had to remove my top and bra for the procedure
