California Residents Pass???

I am leaving for a week long trip to visit a family member in California.
She is working for three days while we are there, and she called me last night to surprise me by telling me she bought my daughter and I a three day pass to Disneyland to use while she is working. (she got a good deal at the grocery store down the street)I then told my daughter who started doing the happy dance. But after a little while she started freaking out because the back of the ticket states it is only for California residents and you need to show proof.
Does anyone know how strictly this is enforced? I suppose the worse case scenario is that she will keep the passes for her family and I will buy a regular pass for my daughter and I. (now I have to take her at least once because she was sooo excited and I can't break her heart)

I emailed Disney about this yesterday and am still waiting on a response. I'll be visiting family who reside in southern CA. I looked into these tickets and this is what I've found. If you read the rules it states "Limit 8 tickets per person per day," so I'm waiting on an interpretation. Once I get an official word from Disney, I'll post.

$99 Summer Fun Pass
From 6/16/08 through 8/30/08, Southern California residents can enjoy both Disneyland Resort theme parks for three days for only $99! (Same price for adults and kids.) The pass must be purchased in advance and will NOT be available at the theme park ticket booths. Starting 6/16/08, you can buy the Summer Fun Pass at Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons, Stater Bros. and Gelson's grocery stores in Southern California.

The Summer Fun Pass is valid for three days of admission at both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure, including visits to both parks on the same day. First use must occur between 6/16/08 through 8/30/08. Tickets are valid 45 days from first use, but BLOCKED OUT ON 7/4/08. The Summer Fun Pass is not valid before 6/16/08.
Tickets valid for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000-93599 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999. Proof of residency required for admission. Limit 8 tickets per person per day with valid ID. Ticket may be upgraded to any Annual Passport as long as the upgrade occurs on or before the last valid day of ticket usage.

I know what the rules say in the above post, but my question was how strictly is this enforced? Do they check everyone's ID upon entry?
I know the rules at Disney also state that no outside food is allowed, but they never check and visitors almost always bring food in with them.

How soon are you going? If you can I would keep checking the various DLR boards to see how this new local discount pass is working and if the turnstile CMs are being more strict in their enforcement than they were during the 2-fer promotion (which I heard repeatedly wasn't enforced at the gate).

We tried this just last Friday with my FIL who was in town from Northern California. They did ask for his license to verify his zip code. So no dice for us...

Audra, but you should have been able to show your ID, and said that you purchased it for your FIL. I have heard of others very successfully using the two-fers that way. . .

I, a Nor Cal resident, was thinking of trying to purchase the So Cal tix since I had heard that the 2-fer enforcement was not that strong.

I went ahead and purchased 3 day PH's from getawaytoday to get the 2 MM's. Now I'm glad I spent the extra money.

Although I just talked to a friend that is a cast member, and she told me that it really depends on the time of day, the person at the counter. Some don't care and some do?

Don't know if this helps? My father in law didn't really mind paying a difference, but it might to some!

I'd pay the difference for peace of mind. We live here in SOCAL and we get ID checked as adults. My family lives in Kissimmee,FL and I would not expect to redeem a Florida Resident ticket for myself.

When we bought our 2fers at Vons, they didn't ask for our IDs. They didn't ask at the turnstiles at DL either...

I just talked to the ticketing people at Disney (called twice and the second operator actually checked with the gate just to make sure). They all said that as long as a Southern California resident bought the tickets, they were good for anyone. She said that ID should not be requested at the gate. She also said that if you were to have a problem to ask for a supervisor.

audrabolster - the only thing I can think of is that this is a brand new program (started the 19th, I think) and maybe they didn't have the kinks ironed out. The last cast member I spoke with (the one who spoke directly with the gate) said that no one should have asked for his ID once the ticket was purchased.

What a great deal this is! Seems Disney may be anticipating lower than expected summer crowds and are hoping to reel 'em in!

If I am asked for ID, I will take your advice and ask for a supervisor.
I leave tomorrow for my California visit. But, I won't be going to Disney until next week, but I'll be sure to let you know how it goes when I get back on the 6th.

Good luck and be prepared in case you are asked for ID. As with all things Disney, the attendant at the gate when you enter the park will decide if you need ID or not.

I used to buy these deals at the grocery store (Ralphs or Vons )
before I had AP's. They never carded me at the gate when My family and I submitted the tickets upon entering the park.

The one time that I bought the tickets at DL I had to show the Lady at the Ticket counter my ID prior to purchasing the tickets so she could verify my zip code. I showed her my ID than she processed the transaction than handed me the tickets. I did not have to verify the zip code for the other members in my family.

I think that locals take advantage of these deals when family from out of town are in. It makes sense for 1 person in your party to buy X amount of tickets and then hand them out to the family members.
