Are the huge "CALIFORNIA" letters still out in front of DCA? I remember hearing (maybe a rumor?) that they would be coming down in January...

Thanks!:wizard:

They are still there for now but should be coming down sometime in the next 6-9 months for sure. Most likely towards the end of 2010 its looking like so they begin building the new entrance for DCA.

I am very sad about the changes that they're making to the entrance. Especially getting rid of the letters and the Golden Gate Bridge. I really liked that it represented all of California, and not just LA.

I'm sure that it will still be nice, though, and will "match" the other changes that they're making in DCA.

WOW...I wonder if they will put them back up...people LOVE them :)

No they don't plan to put them up. Right now the entrance is made to look like a postcard. They want to make it all look like during the time Walt started out here. I'm sure it will be neat, but I'll miss the bridge too.

I'm really excited for this to be finished so that I can see it. The thought of 1920's Hollywood REALLY excites me :)

I agree.

Hope this helps a bit. Although things are never set in stone, the newest Micechat update this month said the following...

Details: The temporary park entrance location was changed after the Stage 17 Entrance was cancelled. The temporary entrance is expected to be at the Golden State utility gate between Soarin' Over California and the Grand Californian Hotel, and will be used in conjunction with a reduced entrance in the park main entrance during construction.

Project Status: Previously cancelled, the temporary entrance idea is reportedly back in the plans, but will be used in conjunction with a reduced main entrance.
Open Date: 2011, when Buena Vista Street construction gets underway.
