California Grill

I wanted to ask anyone knowledgable about the Cali Grill if it is an okay place to bring kids?? We are looking for something to do on our first night in Disney so I thought we could watch fireworks and eat at the same time but I am worried it isn't child friendly. We will be arriving late to our hotel - about 6:45 - 7 pm and got ressies for 7:50. Bad idea? I just assumed everyone at Disney caters to kids, am I wrong?

How old are your kids?

I don't nessecerily think it is a bad idea, but are your kids going to be too tired to sit for a meal? I would feel too rushed also. JMHO.

You are not wrong. Children are everywhere at virtually every restaurant at Disney. Your kids will not be out of place there at all.

Jenn Lynn, My kids are 3 and 6. I checked the menu and my son (6) isn't as adventurous with food and he is with disney rides so I figured we might be better off at Chef Mickeys. I am sure DH and I would LOVE CG but maybe we will go another visit. The funny part is my 3 y/o daughter would love half the menu - but not so adventurous with rides yet...

p.s. I have a baby Avery. Is yours a boy or girl? Our Avery (girl) is staying home with Grandma and will come on our next trip...

If you really want to try CG, I say go for it. There are many dishes that can be adjusted (or created) to find something your 6 year old will love, and the view from there is not to be missed. Chef Mickey's is fun, but not anywhere near the same type of meal experience.

AHutton, Thanks, good Idea. I was thinking of having CG adjust the flatbread for Ethan to make it more like a "typical pizza." He would probably enjoy that.

Do you or anyone else know if their are fireworks on a Thursday nights?? I keep trying to find the schedule and haven't figured that out yet. We will be there on Thrus. Oct. 14th

They will do that with pizza, but they will also do things like basic spaghetti, and can usually get food offered anywhere else in the hotel sent up, which if you include the menu in the Arcade includes grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, burgers and the ever famous chicken nuggets.

As for fireworks, it will depend on the park hours once they are announced. They could be as early as 6:00, or as late as 9:00, you never can tell. Also, if there is a Halloween party that night there may be an extra show, or it may be later, 10:00 or so.

Thanks Ahutton & Cath! That Mac & Cheese sounds right up Ethan's alley! I think I will keep my ressie and when I find out the firework schedule that will be an extra bonus! Actually now that I think of it there is a "Not so scarey Halloween party" that night so we may get lucky...

It's 1 of my kids' favorite restaraunt (teppanyaki is the other). The mac & cheese is incredible. my oldest (8) likes the steak sinner. Makes her feel like a grown-up.

Your kids will love it. They have paper tableclothes and the kids get crayons to color & draw on them.
