Do you seriously think business casual = nice? And if so, do you think business casual is the only type of "nice" clothing one would wear to a vacation dinner? That's so bizarre. I wear nice clothes to California Grill, but no way would i wear business casual. Would be so weird.
Why weird? Khaki pants, button down collar or polo shirt, pair of loafers or perhaps what are now sometimes called lifestyle sneakers. I think business casual dress fits right in at any of the Disney Signature restaurants (excluding V&A, of course): https://www.nimble-made.com/blogs/news/what-is-business-casual-for-men.

I haven’t been to a signature restaurant, but have been thinking about booking CG for our next trip. Business casual seems like the exact appropriate thing to wear to a signature restaurant, with the exception of V&A, which as I understand, has a stricter dress code. Why would it be weird to wear business casual clothes to CG?

Everyone's got different mental pictures of what "business casual" is, of course. For me it's a polo/golf shirt and jeans (denim). Some may consider denim too casual. Meanwhile, I don't even usually bring a collared shirt on vacation.

Wifey will often wear a Disney-themed dress to the parks, so she'd be fine for sure. But I think I'm going to continue to leave "work clothes" at home and enjoy my vacation:duck:
<-- non-'Signature' diner

So what do you wear? Not sure what is weird about a collared polo and khakis.
Not sure what you consider nice. At V&A, a suit is required. All other restaurants are not that dressy..

As long as you're not in tank tops/cutoffs you're fine. I usually opt for dark wash jeans and a solid t-shirt or polo, but you won't be underdressed in shorts and a t-shirt. There's a mix of everything.
I'm not sure about the 'not worth it besides fireworks' comments, CG is consistently one of our favorite meals.
Agreed. Never had anything less than delicious!

Agree! The change to Prix-Fixe wasn't a big deal to us as that was what we normally ordered.

Ate there a few weeks ago. Got a great time to be able to step out and watch the fireworks right before dessert was served. I thought the food was good, definitely not the best I have had, but good with the exception of the Braised Short Rib Wontons. They were excellent and I would absolutely go back just for them alone.

Don't listen to this guy. Every post of his is criticizing other peoples' opinions and choices. Wear something that's nice and makes you feel good!

I agree, that was the point of my post. Business Casual is not necessary. Wear whatever you like that complies with the (very loose) dress code.

Really? To me, it seemed like your original comment was calling other peoples' choices of what to wear "bizarre" or "weird." (I used quotes because those are the exact words you used).

We've been there twice. Once I wore a dress (honeymoon dinner, yay!) and the other time I wore nice jeans with heels and a fancier blouse. We saw a similar mix of styles each time we went. Since it's one of the convention center hotels, you're more likely to see people in business casual here than some of the other resorts.

I do think business casual is an odd choice for a vacation dinner (unless, as you say, you are coming straight from a convention or something). Business casual is so awful in the workplace, i cannot imagine wanting to go that way on a vacation. How were the chandeliers?

Ah, you must not work with many women then. There's actually a whole fashion industry built on "day to night" women's looks. I'm no men's fashion expert but in many workplaces, a nice polo and jeans falls within business casual. I worked at UPS corporate and we had a fair mix of business casual looks, from the polo and jeans to a full three-piece suit.

Some people just enjoy getting dressed up more than others. Personally I don't find anything bizarre about that.

You misunderstand me. I'm all for dressing up for dinner, but not in business casual. For some reason people on this thread seem to think business casual = nice. There are all sorts of nice looks that have nothing to do with business casual. I would dress up more for Cali Grill than I would for a business casual meeting, but also completely differently.

I’m not sure that people are saying business casual = nice. I think people are saying business casual = nicer than theme park wear.

Business casual is plenty appropriate for a Disney resort restaurant.

I say "why would you wear business casual to a restaurant on vacation?" and the response i get here consistently is "some people like dressing up for restaurants" as if i might be suggesting not to dress up. It's really odd.

You've criticized everything people have said here, but have yet to say what you wear to these restaurants that is so much better. Just curious what you consider appropriate.

I have only criticized the notion of wearing business casual clothing on vacation. I would wear dress jeans or fun slacks and a fun evening shirt. Certainly not khakis and a polo or slacks and a brooks brothers shirt like someone going to sit in a cubicle.

So, you don't consider wearing khakis and a polo as "nice clothes" per your previous post, but you do consider wearing dress jeans and a "fun evening shirt" as "nice clothes". Interesting. To each their own.

Let's get back on topic for this thread - California Grill. Let's not post our opinions on appropriate attire for dining. Also, please be respectful of other poster's point of view.

I closed one thread on the restaurant board last week. This thread is headed for the same outcome.
