I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I've tried posting this review two times and it won't let me submit it. I'm trying a third time and I'll start very briefly and will expand if it actually submits.

My DH and I had a great dinner at the CG on the 13th. Highlights were the salmon with cornbread for him and a fantastic beet salad for me.

Well, I'm back to post more detaols...can't believe the thread was finally accepted.

At any rate, check-in was pleasant even as we explained that the other two in our party were tired and had decided to eat in the room. This was a marked contrast to our experience in January when the same kind of thing happened. That night the little snit at the podium snapped "Well, they're missing out on a great dinner." This time the folks at the podium couldn't have been more gracious. We were seated immediately in the wine room by a friendly gentleman who told us only adult parties were placed there.

I was worried about sitting in the wine room because that's where my 21yo son and I had dined in January and service was horrible. This time it was GREAT! Our server was prompt, friendly and professional. My husband listened to her advice on various chardonnays and the one he selected was very good.

Installment III- My husband began his meal with a sushi selection....maybe the sampler?? He has always enjoyed the susshi at CG and this night was true to form. I started with a wonderful beet salad...it was the highlight of my dinner. I hope it will remain on the menu.

I wanted to try the pork eggrolls so we split this for our next course. They were fine but just typical eggrolls although the voodoo sauce had a nice little kick. We took half of this back to the room.

My husband said the salmon with cornbread was excellent. I tried the triple cheese triple garlic flatbread. It was good but I probably should have ordered my usual BBQ chicken flatbread...more flavorful to me. My son enjoyed the rest of this on the plane home the next day!

Final installment....sorry for posting this way.

We were sated but ordered the new chocolate pyramid to take back to our kids. Our DD wanted to try the pyramid and my husband asked for vanilla ice cream for our son rather than the hazelnut. The ice cream made it back to the Poly. I had a bite of the pyramid and it was very good and sooo rich. I don't think we've ever had a doggie bag at the CG before but this time we left looking like we'd been shopping! Our server was very gracious about it all.

We had a memorable dinner and the magic at the CG is back for us.

MMMMMMMM!!! It sounds like you had a wonderful experience at the California Grill! One question - Did you eat dinner during the fireworks? Thanks for sharing! :)

mmmmmmmmm.....sounds yummy. One of these days, when I'm not going with such picky eaters....;)

queenofhearts....we were back in our room for the fireworks. I actually prefer the view from the Poly to that from CG. I think we've been at CG twice during the fireworks. They are cool there but I really like the view from the Poly beach better.

jennymouse...I think dishes like the three cheese pizza and the eggrolls are probably designed for people who are pickier eaters. The children's menu also has simply prepared things. Have a fantastic trip!
