Hi everybody!! I was just wondering... My family and I have a reservation to eat at California Grill but we're not sure if we should keep the reservation. I'm a very picky eater so I'm not sure if this is a good place to eat for me. Is the food too fancy?? I've looked online at the menu and I'm not too sure this would be a good restauraunt to eat at.Anybody's comments would be great!! I'd love to hear how many people like or dislike California Grill!
Thanks so much!!
I'm amused when people describe California Grill as "very fancy" etc. It depends what you are used to. It certainly is a lot "fancier" and more sophisticated than your typical Olive Garden.
But it is not what I would consider high end fine dining. It is casual California fusion dining. It's not even an ultra modern take on California fusion cooking... it feels like California fusion circa 1980s.
You don't get many totally innovative combinations or unusual ingredients. It's more sophisticated than a steak thrown on a grill, or a bowl of pasta with red sauce. But nothing that makes you look at the plate and say, "What is that???"
It's really a loud casual restaurant serving well presented food.
If you're worried about being intimidated by overly fancy, unusual, new dishes.. then stay away from Victoria and Alberts.
I like California Grill, but I wouldn't personally consider it to be "fine dining."
